Paste a link and Hoptrace walks the whole redirect chain by hand, showing every step:
• the status code and what it means (permanent or temporary redirect, final page);
• headers: which server and CDN answer, the content type, who sets cookies and on which hop, whether HSTS is present;
• timing for each hop — name resolution and time to first byte;
• warnings: HTTPS→HTTP downgrade, domain changes, loops, over-long chains.
Unlike ordinary link expanders, Hoptrace shows not just the final address but the entire path to it, in plain language.
VIEW FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY (uses VPN)
Hoptrace can trace the same link through a server in another country and show both chains side by side — "Here", "There" and "Compare". This is how geo-targeting, per-country landing pages and site-side blocking become visible.
This feature uses Android VpnService. You add your own server key (vless://) or a subscription link from your provider — Hoptrace has no servers of its own. While the tunnel is on, all of the phone's traffic goes encrypted to that server. The tunnel is off by default, turned on only by you after a disclosure screen, and can be turned off in the app or in Android settings.
The sites you check and your keys stay on your device. The app sends anonymous usage and crash statistics (Google Firebase) and install attribution (AppsFlyer).
