Inside Egg Path, you receive a partially filled 9×9 board that follows the traditional rules of number placement. Each decision shapes the flow of the round, as you aim to ensure every row, column, and 3×3 block contains the digits 1 through 9 without repetition. There is only one difficulty mode, created to feel balanced from the very beginning. You can select any editable cell and choose a number, watching the board gradually come to life as the puzzle progresses.
Numbers that were automatically generated at the start cannot be selected or edited. Correctly placed numbers also become locked, helping you track progress and avoid confusion. If you place a wrong number, it immediately turns red and stays red until corrected. You have only three mistakes available, shown on a clear life indicator, and running out ends the round. There are no notes or temporary markings, so every input must be thoughtful and deliberate.
Timing plays an important role. The moment the round begins, an internal timer starts counting the duration of your attempt. Once the full grid is completed correctly, the screen flashes green, a “well done” message appears, and you see your completion time. The best time is stored as a record if it is greater than zero and only if the round was successfully finished. If the game is interrupted, minimized, closed, or ended through the menu before completing the puzzle, no record is saved.
During play, opening any dialog window freezes interaction with the board to prevent misclicks. Multitap is not possible, and no overlapping windows can appear. If the app is minimized or switched to another task, the game automatically enters a pause state and displays the pause window. Upon returning, the player must close the pause screen manually to continue.
