Ascending the Sutra Staircase of the Mind
Sutra Steps is a simple yet meaningful game where a young monk climbs steps made of sacred scriptures, experiencing the stages of spiritual practice.
The game starts with a serene screen showing a monk sitting on a lotus flower above the title "Sutra Steps."
Clicking the title begins the journey with a calm young monk appearing on a cloud.
Using the Climb and Flip buttons, you help the monk step up the staircase made of sacred texts, symbolizing progress along the path of practice.
After the game is over, tap the Buddha image next to your score to start a new game.
These steps are not just ordinary stairs—they represent the stages of discipline, focus, and perseverance.
But time is limited: you have only 3 seconds to climb 10 scripture steps!
Every time you succeed, your time resets, and the challenge grows, testing your speed and concentration.

Development Background
This game was inspired by a visit to a temple on Buddha’s Birthday in 2025.
After paying respects and sharing a meal at the temple, a thought came to mind:
“What mindset and steps do monks take on their spiritual journey?”
Inspired by that quiet moment, this game was created as a lighthearted and warm expression of those impressions.
Sutra Steps is not about heavy philosophy but a humble attempt to capture the spirit of that day.

I am someone who deeply respects the teachings of the Buddha.
In this app, books are not steps to be trampled on, but symbolic representations of each stage of realization and personal growth.
The act of stepping on books does not mean stepping on sacred scriptures. Instead, it represents a journey of spiritual practice—ascending step by step through understanding, just like a path of awakening.
Each book symbolizes a milestone in wisdom. The concept is built with deep respect for sacred teachings, not irreverence.
To clarify
The visual of walking on books is not about disrespecting scriptures, but about honoring them as foundations of progress and insight.
There is absolutely no intention to degrade or dishonor Buddhist teachings. On the contrary, this app reflects reverence for the Dharma and the path to enlightenment through learning.
