Deze ontspannende app werd ontwikkeld voor het project VR in het ziekenhuis, een samenwerking tussen JEF en VRT Sandbox, ondersteund door de Vlaamse overheid in het kader van innovatieve partnerprojecten en ontwikkeld door Hunsk en Soulmade.
JEF brengt al enkele jaren festivalfilms naar de ziekenhuizen via het project JEF in het ziekenhuis. Dit groeide uit tot een platform waarop kinderen en jongeren het hele jaar rond festivalfilms kunnen bekijken. Maar het JEF festival is meer dan enkel films kijken in de krokusvakantie. Elk jaar kunnen bezoekers zich ook verwonderen in het medialab of deelnemen aan workshops en masterclasses. Virtual reality biedt de mogelijkheid om ook dit onderdeel van het festival tot in ziekenhuizen of bij kinderen thuis te brengen.
Voor de invulling van de app VR Wonderwater gingen we langs bij kinderen in ziekenhuizen en revalidatiecentra. Ze deelden hun fantasie en tekenden figuren die de animatoren vertaalden naar 3D animaties. Het resultaat kan je bewonderen in deze app en met een (cardboard) VR-bril.
