In the Brain Game: Escape Monster version of this concept, the scene is transferred to a room, where the player controls a soldier who needs to escape from that room. The soldier will encounter many different types of monsters. The level layout of the maze seems simple, but it often takes a lot of steps to get to the exit. When playing in turns, the Monster can move two steps at a time, while the soldier can only move one step. To outwit the enemy, they need to be lured away. The enemy does not react directly to the player, but reacts to the specific logic of vertical and horizontal movement. Once discovered, the player can exploit this. For example, when on a tile surrounded by walls on three sides, the Monster will not leave its position as the monster's logic predicts the player's movements preventing the monster from moving in the escape direction. Other rules are added through a number of traps, multiple Monsters (engaging in a fight where one monster is killed when the adventurer lures them towards each other), Although most levels appear similar, the solution is always different.
After completing a level, progress is automatically saved. During gameplay, the player can also undo as many moves as needed or reset the entire maze. The soldier is controlled via the cursor keys or by tapping on the tile to move. Sometimes, the player also needs to perform a "wait" action, where the player skips their turn, which is used to lure the enemy into a specific position or movement pattern.
