BMI (Body Mass Index) is an international measure used to determine whether a person is at an ideal weight. Developed by the polymath Lambert Quételet in the late 19th century, it is a simple and fast method for assessing a person’s body fat level, making it an international predictor of obesity adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO).
