Esta app está orientada a servir de instrumentos para fortalecer y promover procesos de revitalización lingüística que surjan con las nuevas generaciones.
El pueblo Ikitu ocupó antiguamente un amplio territorio que incluía la zona donde actualmente se encuentra la ciudad de Iquitos, capital de Loreto. Esta ciudad habría sido llamada así por los Ikitu.
Al igual que los pueblos Arabela y Vacacocha, la lengua del pueblo Ikitu pertenece a la familia lingüística Záparo.
El pueblo Ikitu habita principalmente en la provincia de Maynas, departamento de Loreto. Según los resultados de los censos nacional 2017, por sus costumbres y sus antepasados han sido 1,352 personas que se han autoidentificado como parte del pueblo Ikitu a nivel nacional; y por el trabajo de campo que ha realizado el Ministerio de Educación, 519 personas han manifestado que hablan la lengua Ikitu. Además, los datos obtenidos por el Ministerio de Cultura, la población de las comunidades del pueblo Ikitu se estima en 693 personas.
