We do have music notation as an intermediary. Yet, much like our usual spoken language, we often don't write down what we speak or hear.
Music is actually pretty much the same thing, in fact even more so, as whole genres are based on real-time improvisation and talking in-between musicians through music and different instruments.
So with Violin by Ear series, we have divided instrument learning into two parts.
1) First is the instrument itself, getting comfortable with the instrument without the extra mental strain of having to add notation. By progressing levels inside the app your get comfortable with all the notes, scales and all there is so that playing your favourite tunes on the instrument by ear becomes a breeze for you in a matter of days.
2) And second - the notation practice.
For that, check out the companion ‘Violin Sight Reading’ app which will allow you to get used to playing written music on your saxophone in two weeks’ time, capitalizing on your knowledge of the instrument itself, developed by the previous app, or better yet, utilise the ‘Vocal Sight Reading’ app where you will focus on written notes themselves and practice them separately without setting up the instrument, and by connecting them to your ear through singing them - playing them later on any instrument, let alone the violin, will become a breeze.
