The Douay-Rheims Bible is a Roman Catholic version of the Bible translated from the Latin Vulgate into English, at the University of Douai, France. The New Testament was published in 1582 at Rheims in northern France and was thus known as the Douay-Rheims.

This is a version revised by the English Catholic bishop Richard Challoner and published in 1752. He updated vocabulary, spelling, and structure to make the Bible more readable.

The Catholic edition presents the books in the traditional Catholic book order, and includes books recognized as canonical or deuterocanonical by the Roman Catholic Church:

The Old Testament is composed of 46 books:

The Pentateuch includes Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
The Historical books include Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Tobit, Judith, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees.
The Poetic and Wisdom writings include Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Wisdom, Sirach.
The Major Prophets include Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel.
The Minor Prophets include Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi.

The New Testament consists of 27 books:

The Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John.
Acts of the Apostles
Paul's Epistles: Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews.
General Epistles: James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, Jude.
