描述
Professionele chauffeurs in het goederenvervoer ervaren vaak moeilijke, uitputtende en stresserende werkomstandigheden, omwille van verschillende redenen: onregelmatige slaappatronen, onzekerheid in het verkeer (bv. vertragingen, een gebrek aan parkeerplaatsen), vaak wisselende roosters, drukke planningen, veel tijd weg van huis, etc. Deze werkomstandigheden kunnen leiden tot belangrijke gezondheidsproblemen (zoals vermoeidheid, chronische stress, depressie) met een belangrijke impact op de verkeersveiligheid.
Volgens de International Road Transport Union wordt Europa momenteel geconfronteerd met het meest acute chauffeurstekort in decennia. Tegelijkertijd wordt de komende decennia een groei van het vrachtvolume over de weg verwacht, en een structurele groei van de koeriers- en pakketdiensten.
Het chauffeurstekort brengt de verdere groei van de wegtransportsector in gevaar. Technologie zal een belangrijke rol spelen bij het veiliger en efficiënter maken van het wegvervoer. De algemene doelstelling van MILESTONE is dan ook het ontwikkelen en uittesten van technologische interventies
Deze app wordt gebruikt ter collectie van de data voor deze studie, en in een later stadium ook om de interventies toe te dienen.
Alle deelnemers worden gemonitord worden tijdens ritten op de weg gedurende 1 maand. De deelnemer moet rijden zoals deze gewoonlijk zou rijden, en voert diens dagelijkse professionele activiteiten uit zoals deze gewoon is om te doen.
- De deelnemer wordt gevraagd om tijdens een maand 24/7 een wearable te dragen (dezelfde als in de vorige stappen), waarmee we diens hoeveelheid slaap en stress in kaart kunnen brengen.
- De deelnemer wordt gevraagd om deze app te installeren op diens smartphone, waarin enkele vragen per dag ingevuld worden. Bij deze vragen geeft de deelnemer aan het einde van de werkdag een score over diens subjectieve slaperigheid, slaapkwaliteit, stress en thermisch comfort.
- In het voertuig van de deelnemer worden enkele sensoren geïnstalleerd om enerzijds de omgevingswaarden in kaart te brengen (bv. temperatuur, vochtigheid, CO2) en anderzijds het rijgedrag te registreren (bv. acceleratie, snelheid).
Door het koppelen van de gegevens van de wearable met de subjectieve schalen, de gegevens van app en de sensoren, kunnen we de relatie tussen de hoeveelheid slaap, slaperigheid, stress en het rijgedrag in real-life praktische rijomstandigheden bepalen.
In een latere fase zal deze app gebruikt worden om deelnemers te monitoren tijdens het testen van de interventies binnen MILESTONE, waarvan enkele ook door de app worden toegediend:
- Interventie 1: De deelnemer krijgt real-time triggers wanneer deze acute stress ervaart. Deze waarschuwingsberichten hebben tot doel te voorkomen dat deze in een hoog stressniveau terechtkomt.
- Interventie 2: De deelnemer krijgt gepersonaliseerde feedback en advies, gerelateerd aan het verminderen van diens chronische stress.
- Interventie 3: De deelnemer krijgt zowel real-time triggers wanneer deze acute stress ervaart, alsook gepersonaliseerde feedback en advies gerelateerd aan het verminderen van diens chronische stress.
- Interventie 4: De deelnemer krijgt oefentherapie via de app, gebaseerd op principes van hoge intensiteit trainingsoefeningen.
- Actieve controlegroep: De deelnemer krijgt een traditionele vorm van therapie om stress te verminderen, bv. mindfulness.
- Passieve controlegroep: De deelnemer krijgt geen interventie of advies, maar wordt enkel gemonitord tijdens de studieperiode.
