1. Introduction and Background
The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), launched by the Government of India, aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water to every rural household through Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs). To support this, robust systems for managing, monitoring, and sustaining water supply services are essential. The Unique Tap Water ID (UTWID) initiative enables effective post-implementation monitoring and improved service delivery through a Web-GIS-based system. It integrates household data with geographic and demographic information, ensuring transparency and accountability in managing rural water supply.
2. Objective and Scope of the Mobile Application
The mobile application has been developed to streamline the generation of UTWIDs through accurate and real-time field data collection. Designed for field-level enumerators, the application enables capturing Aadhaar-based identity, validating mobile numbers via OTP, recording GPS coordinates, and syncing data with the backend Web-GIS system. The application is central to ensuring equitable, efficient, and transparent delivery of tap water services under JJM.
The development scope includes:
