The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse is a roguelite action RPG that creates a unique adventure for each new hero of legend in the relentless fight against the evil Mormo. Explore a delightful but dangerous overworld, brave menacing dungeons, and improve your hero in a charming village, during your quest to overcome the evil that plagues the island. Unleash the mystical Sword of Ditto and grab a co-op friend for an unforgettable adventure filled with delightful characters, extraordinary loot, and heroic battles!

Roguelite + Adventure RPG: Each adventure becomes its own legend, both distinct from those that came before it and part of a heroic legacy that bind together. The deeds, successes, and failures of each hero's adventure have implications for those that follow including the ability to find weapons and recover loot from history’s fallen heroes.

Solo & Local Co-Op: Battle Mormo and her evil armies alone or summon a brave friend to take up arms alongside you in local co-op mode. Fear not, even less experienced adventurers will find help from their fellow heroes through the magic of a good old-fashioned revival hug!

Weapons, Items, & Stickers: Wield the traditional sword and bow combo alongside the decidedly less traditional vinyl record Frisbee, magic golf club, and colossal foot from the heavens to put Mormo and her legions back on their heels. Collect and equip stickers to boost up your hero and add perks to their gear to become powerful enough to banish the wicked sorceress.

Main Quests and Secret Side Missions: Approach your legend however you see fit by battling through dungeons in any order, completing side missions through dark caverns and deep wells, or confront Mormo right from the start for the ultimate challenge.

    Hi everyone!

    It's here! The Swords of DItto: Mormo's Curse releases today! Since the release of the Timeless Update in July, we've been beavering away adding a host of new features, as well as reshaping and reworking the game. It's here today as a FREE update for all players!

    If you are an existing player, we recommend that you start a new game to experience Mormo's Curse as it was intended.

    But what's changed in Mormo's Curse? While the short answer is "most of it", here are a few of the more obvious things to expect.

    Revamped Structure

    The game structure has been totally gutted, and the divisive permadeath feature has been removed. You will still fail a story if you die while climbing Mormo's Palace at the end, or if you play in Hero Mode, but otherwise, if you fall, you will collapse and wake up in your house having dropped some cash and fragments. The game is now more forgiving and easier to enjoy.

    The end game has been drastically improved, with much more to do, and more variation in the game's rules. For example, when you defeat Mormo, in the next story she will cast one of her curses on you, changing the rules of the world for that story. (The Time Curse that was cast in the Timeless Update remains as one of those curses).

    New Areas & Improved Overworld

    The Overworld has been drastically overhauled, to be denser, more engaging, and more focused. We've also added four unique areas with their own specific features, two of which are chosen for each story.
    New Toys, Enemies & Stickers

    The new areas bring bespoke enemies, and dedicated shops which sell new Stickers with amazing abilities and unique Toys of Legend (such as the Axe, the Book of the Dead, the Vampire Ring and many more). We've also added a number of support items to the player inventory, such as the Inflatable Decoys, Mines and Kick Me Signs.
    Bug-Fixes and General Improvements

    Most of the game has been looked at and smoothed over, including room layouts, item carry over at the end of a story, all menus and user interface, the integration of the Air Kazoo map into the main map, memory management, NPC dialogue and localisation and more.
    Port to GameMaker Studio 2

    The previous version of the game was running in GameMaker Studio 1.4, which was deprecated by YoYo Games last summer. The move to GMS2 means many technical improvements. For Windows players that means no more DirectX 9, improving compatibility across the board, including for many integrated GPUs. Ubuntu support is now at 18.04, with audio and gamepad issues fixed. There's also much-improved performance, and, crucially, YYG will now be able to offer support for any engine-based issues we come across.

    These are just a few of the things that we've been busy with, however. The general goal throughout the development of Mormo's Curse was to make it a much better game; one that we are much happier with. We hope you enjoy all of the improvement we've made, and look forward to seeing what you think!

    The time limit has been removed for most stories. Players instead have to reach a target Level before facing Mormo.

    Updated the Level Up sequence to show Mormo's level in relation to the player's level

    The time limit now only comes into play for stories after players have defeated Mormo

    Players now start at the grave when they fail a story, instead of walking from the house every time

    Toy and Trial Dungeons are no longer marked on the player's map

    Toy and Trial Dungeons no longer require the player to be a certain level before they can get into them

    Players permanently get the dash, charge and spin attacks as rewards for levelling up at key milestones

    Story Tablets are now always an additional reward from chests/NPCs

    After defeating Mormo, the player is now given a specific Quest to help them on their way to finish the game properly

    The player must now face a challenge when offering an Icon at the Henge

    Successful stories now see high level enemies spawn around the map, with rewards for defeating them

    Streamlined the start of a story after beating Mormo by awarding the Kazoo and unlocking Air Kazoo stops

    Enemies no longer scale along with completed dungeons, meaning more variety in enemy difficulty around the world

    Sticker Packs have become Sticker Codes, to better communicate why Lik only gives you one Sticker in return

    Added Screenshake menu option
    Patch 1.07.01-110 (23 May 2018)

    Players now start in the overworld if they saved their game in a special interior such as Ock's or Cave Cat's and then quit

    One way dungeon doors never now close when players go through

    Fix for one way dungeon doors putting players at the incorrect doorway

    Prevented player from going into a Sticker swap if all their Stickers are equipped

    Fix for henge not incrementing gadget count

    Laser Ring save slot was incorrect (will result in a free flaming laser for everyone who has the laser in their current save)

    Difficulty balancing for stories where Mormo was beaten and Icons were offered

    Fixed player occasionally losing cash and fragments when continuing a game

    Fixed beach crates randomisation not working when the day changed

    Fix for parsing error on old saves

    Fix for player being able to leave a room instantly in the overworld and getting stuck doing so

    Changes to items kept when victorious over Mormo

    Removed debug reporting that was slowing the game down on spikes and enemies

    Added options to set target framerate to 30, 60, 120, 144, 160 and 240

    Edited Spanish line that was too long for an NPC's text box and caused a freeze

    Prevented key quests from being assigned to the waterfall or henge levels

    Fixed issue with Toy Master achievement taking longer to unlock than it should

    Put in a fix for Kazoo sequence taking a long time, and the main menu not appearing on return to the main menu

    Fixed inventory items on death not carrying over if you choose to carry everything over

    Player now carries over their entire inventory when defeating Mormo

    Fixed shadow errors when cutting grass

    Reduced cost of Toys in the Toyshop slightly
