Description

Pingward
It is 6:40 on a Sunday morning and your phone buzzes.

DOWN — Checkout API
Timeout after 10000ms

You tap it and Pingward opens that monitor: how long it has been down, what the last checks returned, when it was last checked. You are looking at the problem before you are properly awake, and before anyone has had to tell you.

Pingward for iPhone is the on-call half of a Pingward account — the part you carry. Add a monitor, watch it, and hear about it the moment it stops answering.

THE ALERT

A monitor is marked down only after it fails the number of consecutive checks it is set to, so a single blip does not page you. Then the push goes out.

- The title leads with a red dot and the word DOWN, then the monitor name — status first, so a long name cannot push it off the end of the banner.
- The body says what happened in plain words, with the raw error behind it: "DNS does not resolve for api.example.com", "The TLS certificate has expired", "Connection refused — nothing is listening on that port", "Keyword not found: order_id", "The endpoint is reachable but returning a server error". That last one is the whole point: the host answered, so this is an application problem and not an infrastructure one.
- Down alerts are sent Time Sensitive, so they come through Focus and Do Not Disturb.
- Recovery alerts are not. A green dot, the word UP, and how long it was out: "Recovered after 8m 12s down · 4 failed checks". Good news arrives quietly.
- Tapping any alert opens the monitor it came from.

THE LIST

Nothing wrong is one quiet line: how many monitors, how many up, when the data was loaded. No daily green banner to learn to ignore.

Something down is a filled red callout with the count and the first few names, and those monitors sort to the top. Every card carries its status, its uptime over the last 24 hours, and a strip of that day in half-hour blocks — shading deepens with severity, so a blip stays a hairline and a real outage becomes a bar. Pull down to refresh.

ONE MONITOR, IN DETAIL

- Uptime over 24 hours, average and 95th-percentile response time, and what the most recent check returned.
- The same half-hour strip, plus a response-time chart with gaps where nothing succeeded.
- The monitor's incidents, each with how long it lasted.
- Recent checks: status code, response time, and the error when there was one.
- The check interval it is set to, and the HTTP status range it expects.

EVERY INCIDENT

Every outage across every monitor, grouped by day. It shows the most recent ones; older history stays on the web dashboard.

ADDING A MONITOR

Name it, paste the URL, pick how often to check. The status range, a keyword to look for, the timeout and how many failures count as down all have defaults and sit behind Advanced.

PAUSE BEFORE YOU DEPLOY

Pausing is the one thing the app changes about a monitor rather than shows: no checks run and no alerts are sent until you resume it — for planned maintenance, and for the deploy you know will fail for ninety seconds.

NOTIFICATIONS

Push is controlled here and only here. One switch registers this device; separate switches decide whether your push covers outages, recoveries, or both.

Email, Telegram, webhook and SMS alerts are switched on in Settings on the web dashboard. Push is the one destination the app owns.

SETTINGS

Sign out, or delete your account and its data.

WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO

- It does not edit or delete a monitor once it exists. Adding and pausing are here; the rest is the web dashboard.
- It does not store history offline. When a refresh fails it keeps the last numbers on screen and tells you they are stale rather than blanking the page.
- It does not ask for notification permission on launch. The switch in Settings is the only thing that raises that dialog.

DETAILS
