Reading KM’s creates a new motivation for children to read and enjoy reading. Use the app in the classroom to improve your students’ literacy outcomes or use as a family at home to see which books your child reads, which milestones have been achieved and have friendly competitions as a family.
FEATURES
- Search for your book from our database or add manually. (Supports books in a multitude of languages. Note that reading occurs from a physical book you have at home.)
- Choose your journey or create your own
- Start reading and when finished, enter the page number you are up to and watch the plane move on the world map
- Read more to unlock milestones
FOR SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS:
Reading KM’s provides numerous useful tools for schools and teachers which assist in creating a reading culture in the classroom. Teachers are able to use the information gathered through these tools to gain insight into their students’ reading behaviour and improve literacy outcomes for their students.
- See how many pages your students read over a period of time
- See which books your students read
- Recommend books for your students to read
- Set reading tasks, journeys and completion dates for your students
- Motivate students to read more by showing them the world map class reading activity
- Select individual reading levels for your students to keep everyone motivated and reading (e.g. 1 page is 1 km, 1 page = 10 km, 1 page is 50 km)
- Engage students by linking destinations to subjects like HASS, Geography, LOTE, and more
- Up- or downgrade your school’s subscription at any time
How to use Reading KM’s as a family:
- Sign up as a family at https://portal.readingkms.com/sign-up
- Choose your subscription
- Add Users
- Download the app and Sign In
- Go to My Books and Add Book or Find Book
- Go to My Journey and choose a journey or add your own
- Start reading and log your reading in Journeys, My Journey
How to use Reading KM’s as a school/teacher:
- Sign up as a school at https://portal.readingkms.com/sign-up
- Choose your subscription
- Add Classes
- Teachers sign up as a teacher at https://portal.readingkms.com/sign-up
- School accepts teacher(s) link request
- School links teacher(s) to class(es)
- Students sign up as a family at https://portal.readingkms.com/sign-up
- Student is added as User to respective family
- Family downloads the app and Sign In
- Teacher links students to class
Important: This app is for tracking the number of pages read of a physical book you have at home or school. The book content and the actual reading are not in the app
