संस्कृत भाषा विश्वको सर्वप्राचीन भाषा हो । यो दक्षिण एसियाका धेरै भाषाहरूको जननी भाषा पनि हो । दक्षिण एसियाबाहेक पनि संस्कृत भाषाको प्रभाव अन्य सयौँ भाषाहरूमा पाइन्छ । त्यसैले यस भाषाको महत्त्व गरिमापूर्ण छ । नेपाली भाषाको जननी भाषा संस्कृत भाषा हो । नेपाली भाषाका करीब ७०% भन्दा बढी शब्दहरू संस्कृतका नै छन् । अतः नेपालीभाषालाई माध्यम बनाएर सजिलोसंग संस्कृत सिक्न सकिन्छ ।भाषा सिक्ने सजिलो माध्यम शब्दकोश पनि हो । शब्दकोशको माध्यमले कठिनभन्दा कठिन शब्दहरूको सजिलै अर्थबोध गर्न सकिन्छ । संस्कृतका शब्दहरूका ज्ञानका लागि अहिलेको परिवर्तित सन्दर्भमा संस्कृत-नेपाली शब्दकोश अपरिहार्य विषय हो । अहिले हरेक व्यक्ति विद्युतीय यन्त्रले युक्त छ । परिवर्तित विश्वको वर्तमान परिवेशमा एउटा भरपर्दो विद्युतीय शब्दकोशको आवश्यकता खड्किएको थियो । त्यस आवश्यकता परिपूर्तिका लागि प्रयासस्वरूप यो ‘संस्कृत-शब्दकोशः’ (App) निर्माण गरिएको हो ।
यो एप्सको आधारभूमि नेपाल संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालयबाट प्रकाशित पं. फणीन्द्रप्रसाद पाण्डेयद्वारा सङ्कलित बृहत् संस्कृत-नेपाली शब्दकोश एवं विद्वच्छिरोमणि पं. कुलचन्द्र गौतमको संस्कृत-नेपाली शब्दकोश हो । साथै शब्दसङ्कलन र सम्पादनको क्रममा अन्य विभिन्न कोशहरूलाई आधार बनाइएको छ । नेपाली भाषा सम्पादनमा विशेष गरी प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठानबाट प्रकाशित ‘बृहद् नेपाली शब्दकोश २०४०’ को दशौँ संस्करणलाई आधार बनाइएको छ । यथासम्भव संस्कृतका सम्पूर्ण धातुहरूको पनि संकलन गरी त्यसको पद, गण कर्म आदिसहित नेपालीमा अर्थ दिइएको छ । साथै धातुहरूको कृदन्त रूप ‘कृदन्तरूपमाला’–(रामसुब्रह्मण्यशास्त्री) पनि दिइएको छ । सम्भव भएसम्म शब्दहरूको निष्पत्ति, व्युत्पत्ति आदि पनि दिने प्रयास गरिएको छ । यस कोशको निर्माणबाट संस्कृत अध्ययनका लागि थोरैमात्र पनि उपकार भएमा यो कार्य सफल हुनेछ ।
Sanskrit Hindi Dictionary

संस्कृत विश्व की अनेक भाषाओं का आधार है । भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में बोली जाने वाली भाषाओं की जननी भी है । संस्कृत जानने के लिए संस्कृत का शब्द ज्ञान आवश्यक है । शब्द ज्ञान के लिए सबसे सरल माध्यम शब्दकोश ही है । हिंदी भाषा के लिए संस्कृत के सबसे उपयुक्त शब्दकोश वामन शिवराम आप्टे का संस्कृत हिंदी कोश है ।
अतः प्रस्तुत ‘संस्कृत-शब्दकोशः’(App) में इस कोश को भी समावेश किया गया है । इस कोश का समावेश होने से भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सर्वाधिक संख्या में बोली जाने वाली हिंदी भाषा के जिज्ञासुओं को लाभ मिलेगा, यह हमारा विश्वास है । प्रस्तुत संस्करण मूलतः सन् १९६९ मैं प्रकाशित संस्कृत हिन्दी कोश के आधार पर संपादन किया गया है । इस कोश के निर्माण से संस्कृत जिज्ञासुओं के जिज्ञासा का समाधान हो पाएगा ऐसी हमारी आशा है । हमारे एक छोटे से प्रयास से जिज्ञासुओं को लाभ मिलेगा तो हम स्वयं को कृतार्थ समझेगें ।

In the view of linguistics, Sanskrit is the most organized language in the world. It is the oldest language. Day by day the number of people who want to know and understand this language is increasing.
This ‘संस्कृत-शब्दकोशः’ (App) includes Sanskrit-English lexicon of Vaman Shivram Apte. Data on this dictionary are taken from the IITS Koeln website. My aim/intention on this effort is just to solve the curiosity of the inquirers and to aid sanstrit learners.
Sanskrit Sanskrit Dictionary

संस्कृतं खलु दैवी वाक् । एषा वेदस्य भाषा । सनातनसंस्कृतौ प्राणरूपेण अन्तर्हिता खल्वेषा भाषा । तस्या ज्ञानं विना सनातनसंस्कृतेर्ज्ञानम् अपूर्णम् । अस्माकं संस्कारा जीवनपद्धतयश्च खण्डिता इव प्रतिभान्ति । पूर्णरूपेण संस्कृतभाषाया ज्ञानाय शब्दज्ञानम् आवश्यकम् । शब्द-शब्दार्थज्ञानाय सरलं साधनं खलु शब्दकोश एव । शब्दकोशश्च व्युत्पत्ति-निष्पत्ति-उल्लेखादिसहितश्चेत् ततोऽपि सरलं भवति । एतच्च खलु ‘शब्दकल्पद्रुमः’ ‘वाचस्पत्यम्’कोशाभ्यां एव सम्भवति ।
अतः ‘संस्कृत-शब्दकोशः’(App) इत्यत्र कोशद्वयमेव स्थापितं विद्यते । एतयोः मुख्यं स्रोतः खलु IITS Koeln जालस्थानं वर्तते । एतेन जिज्ञासूनां काचिदपि जिज्ञासा उपशाम्येत, तर्हि कृतार्थो भविष्यामि । शङ्करोतु शङ्करः ।
