Both terms, standard notation, standard form, and scientific notation are the same. The numbers are usually written in their expanded form such as 2008900 but the same number when converted into standard notation, will be expressed in the power of ten.
We can say that standard notation is a method of writing very large and very small numbers in the power of ten. For instance, the same number 2008900, when written in standard form, will become 2.009x10+6.
The power of the calculation result or calculation depends on the number, if it is too small such as 0.0908, then in standard notation, we will move the decimal point to the right direction and its standard notation will be 9.080 x 10-2.
Converting a small value into standard notation involves moving the decimal point to the right, the power of ten will be negative. On the other hand, dealing with very large numbers, the power of ten will be positive.
