Die Inhalte richten sich zum einen nach dem Prüfungsstoff der Zertifizierungskurse der Schweizerischen Botanischen Gesellschaft («Bellis» mit 200 Arten, «Iris» mit 400 Arten, «Dryas» mit 600 Arten). Zum andern enthält die App Artenlisten («Pools») der Bronze- und Silber-Zertifikate der BANU-Akademie mit 275 Arten im Bronze-Pool, bzw. 550 Arten im Silber-Pool. Das Trainingsmodul erlaubt das Üben des eigenen Artenwissens, damit das Gelernte möglichst bleibend im Gedächtnis verankert wird. Die App soll dabei keine reellen Feldexkursionen ersetzen, sondern das Erlernen der Artenkenntnis digital ergänzen.
ARTENLISTE & PORTRÄTS
Es werden 813 Pflanzen aus der Schweiz und Deutschland porträtiert. Die Liste kann nach verschiedenen Zertifikatstufen gefiltert und nach wissenschaftlichen Namen oder Trivialnamen sortiert werden.
Das Artporträt enthält Angaben zur Morphologie und Wissenswertes zur Art, Synonyme, Familien- und Gattungsnamen sowie die Angabe, welchen Zertifikatstufen die Art angehört. Jede Art wird durch mindestens 4 Bilder visualisiert.
BESTIMMEN
Ein dynamischer Multikriterienschlüssel erlaubt das Bestimmen der Pflanzen anhand einfacher Kombination von Merkmalen. Je besser die Art mit Merkmalen beschrieben werden kann, desto genauer ist die Bestimmung. Zur Bestimmung stehen über 70 Merkmale zur Größe, Blütenform, -Farbe, Blattform, Anordnung der Blätter u.v.m. zur Verfügung. Bei langem Klick erscheint ein Pop-up mit weiteren Informationen oder Beispielbildern zum entsprechenden Kriterium.
ARTENTRAINER
Das Herzstück der App ermöglicht das Verbessern der eigenen Artenkenntnis. Die Abfolge der Fragen basiert auf einem Algorithmus, der darauf abgestimmt ist, die Artenkenntnis zu verbessern und das Gelernte im Gedächtnis zu verankern.
Der Lernende kann zwischen zwei Fragemodulen wählen: bei der Multiple-Choice-Auswahl werden fünf Antwortoptionen so zusammengestellt, dass möglichst Arten mit ähnlichen Bestimmungskriterien in den Antwortmöglichkeiten enthalten sind. Beim Verdeckt-Modus werden keine Vorschläge angezeigt, was ein rasches "sich-abfragen" der Arten erlaubt.
Eine rudimentäre Statistik beim Artentrainer informiert über den persönlichen Fortschritt.
PFLANZENFAMILIEN UND PFLANZENGATTUNGEN
Die App führt auch Hintergrundwissen zu den Familien und Gattungen auf, welche für die Zertifikate relevant sind. Die Familie bzw. Gattung wird kurz porträtiert mit Angabe der Zertifikatsstufe, einem Einführungstext und charakteristischen Merkmalen. Jede Familie und Gattung wird stellvertretend durch drei Bilder zugehöriger Arten visualisiert.
Die App ist rund 1.6 GB groß und erfordert entsprechend genügend Speicherplatz.
