Beschreibung
Akibat perselisihan perburuhan, sekitar tahun 1956, pada era Direktur Utama Garuda Bpk. Wiweko S., IPSINDO membubarkan diri. Setelah IPSINDO membubarkan diri, para penerbang tidak memiliki tempat bernaung. Pada tanggal 16 Desember 1985, tepatnya pukul: 02.22 WIB telah berdiri Forum Komunikasi Antar-Penerbang Garuda Indonesia (FKAP-GA) yang dideklarasikan di kediaman rumah Capt. Krismanto, dengan ketuanya Capt. H.J.J. Sumolang.
Melihat peran positif FKAP-GA, sekitar tahun 1988 Menteri Perhubungan, Bpk. Roesmin Noerjadin memanggil para pengurusnya dan mengusulkan agar dapat dibentuk organisasi pilot berskala nasional. Menindaklanjuti pertemuan tersebut, berkat upaya keras yang dimotori oleh para penerbang Garuda, dibentuk Persatuan Penerbang Sipil Indonesia (PERSEPSI) yang beranggotakan seluruh pilot Indonesia, dengan ketuanya Capt. Krismanto. Selanjutnya, PERSEPSI berubah nama menjadi Federasi Pilot Indonesia (FPI).
Untuk menjalankan mandatnya dalam forum internasional, FKAP-GA telah menjadi anggota International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA), induk organisasi penerbang internasional. Keanggotaan ini dimulai tahun 1993 pada saat berlangsungnya konferensi IFALPA di Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ketika itu, FKAP-GA diketuai oleh Capt. Amir Hamzah.
Sementara itu, kegiatan FKAP-GA terus berlanjut sebagai organisasi yang khusus beranggotakan pilot Garuda. Forum Komunikasi ini pada tanggal 15 Desember 1999 berubah nama menjadi Asosiasi Pilot Garuda (APG), yang tetap memperjuangkan harkat dan martabat para penerbang Garuda Indonesia.
