De gerenommeerde Nederlandse filmmaker Menno Mennes heeft sinds 2007 zijn betrokkenheid met de Nederlandse cultuur en geschiedenis vastgelegd en laat dit unieke beeldmateriaal nu met de App WindMills zien.
Als geen ander wist hij, met veel passie en gedegen vakmanschap, de sfeervolle beeldverhalen over het Nederlands Erfgoed vast te leggen. Menno Mennes filmt in de stijl van onze oude meesters!
Nu krijgt u de mogelijkheid om de meest mooiste molens van Nederland, on-line op uw device te zien met veel gedetailleerde informatie.
Het bevat de molens van Kinderdijk, Schermerhorn, de Zaanse schans en nog veel meer, inclusief de molens geschilderd door Vincent van Gogh.
De collectie bestaat uit een selectie unieke molens van alle provinciën met gedetailleerde informatie (foto’s en video). U heeft de mogelijkheid om de route (veelal met StreetView) vanuit uw huidige locatie of een te selecteren provincie weer te geven.
De gegevens voor uw locatie zijn geheel configureerbaar met afstanden binnen een straal van 5, 10, 25 of 50 km. U kunt selecties maken per provincie, per molensoort en sorteringen op plaats en afstand.
U krijgt achtergrond-informatie over de molen, de locatie waar de molen staat, wanneer de molen gebouwd is, categorie, type en functie alsmede of de molen open is voor publiek en of de molen nog maalvaardig is.
De WindMills App ondersteunt de talen Nederlands, Engels, Duits, Frans, Spaans en Italiaans.
Het Nederlandse landschap en molens zijn onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden. Het waren immers deze prachtige werktuigen waaraan Nederland zijn welvaart heeft te danken.
De Poldermolens hielden onze voeten droog en de industriemolens zorgen in de 17e eeuw voor een grote bloei.
Molens zijn en blijven de iconen, de landmarks van Nederland, die jaarlijks honderdduizenden bezoekers uit binnen- en buitenland trekken.
Het is niet zo vanzelfsprekend dat er nog molens staan. Zo’n 100 jaar geleden werden er duizenden molens gesloopt en het leek erop dat ze allemáál verloren zouden gaan.
Mede door de inzet van de in 1923 opgerichte vereniging de Hollandsche Molen lukte het om veel molens te redden, waardoor er anno 2009 in Nederland nog ruim 1100 wind- en watermolens staan. Maar de vereniging alléén kan deze monumenten niet levend houden, daar is meer voor nodig.
Vrijwilligers houden de molens draaiende en zij verdienen groot respect, want zonder deze vrijwilligers zou het molenbestand stilstaan en binnen 10 jaar verloren zijn.
In de nabije toekomst zullen meerdere Apps over het Nederlands cultuurhistorisch erfgoed volgen, met als onderwerpen de oude vissersplaatsen en de grote bloemencorso’s: Holland op z’n allermooist.
