WHAT IT DOES
When you click a Google Maps link in Safari, this extension intercepts it and opens the same location or directions in Apple Maps instead. No more "Open in Google Maps" popups.
HOW IT WORKS
• Click any Google Maps link on the web
• The extension detects the address, coordinates, or directions
• You're instantly redirected to Apple Maps
• That's it! No extra steps required
SUPPORTED LINKS
• Google Maps place links
• Google Maps directions
• Google Maps search results
• Short links (goo.gl, g.co, g.page)
• All regional Google domains (google.co.uk, google.de, etc.)
PRIVACY FIRST
• No data collection whatsoever
• No analytics or tracking
• No network requests, everything happens on your device
• No account required
• Open source logic, nothing hidden
WHY FREE?
I built this because I was frustrated with Google Maps constantly pushing me to download their app. There are paid alternatives, but I believe a simple utility like this should be free for everyone.
SETUP
1. Open Settings → Safari → Extensions
2. Enable "Maps Redirect"
3. Allow access for Google domains
4. Done! Google Maps links will now open in Apple Maps
