The platform was built by someone who has experienced the complexities of the housing authority system firsthand. The founder spent years working as a Caseworker and later as an Inspector with the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA), interacting directly with both tenants and landlords. Unlike traditional platforms that require tenants to search across multiple jurisdictions or deal with long waitlists, myS8 allows users to search for properties specifically within their Housing Authority jurisdiction, ensuring they only view listings that accept their voucher. Tenants can easily search for available properties, apply directly through the platform, and communicate with landlords using the secure in-app messaging feature. Traditionally, landlords were often uncertain about which housing authority their properties were aligned with, leading to confusion and mistakes in the listing process. With myS8, landlords can instantly identify the correct jurisdiction for any property they own, streamlining the listing process. The platform enables landlords to add property details, upload photos, and list their units for free, all in just a few minutes. Once listings are live, landlords can manage incoming applications, directly chat with potential tenants, send and receive PDF documents (such as lease agreements and inspection notices), and manage the entire process in one place.
