PNG (oxipng) and SVG (svgcleaner) use truly lossless compression — not a single pixel changes.
JPEG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, and GIF use visually lossless tuning (technically lossy re-encoding, but the difference is imperceptible to the eye).
A built-in comparison window (⌘D) shows a side-by-side split view, with zoom to actual size for close inspection. You decide if the result is good enough.
**Smart Handling, Thoughtful Design**
- **All formats supported**: JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, HEIC, WebP, and AVIF — 8 formats in total.
- **True format detection**: Reads the file's magic bytes to detect its real type, so even a mislabeled extension (e.g. a PNG that's actually a JPEG) still compresses correctly.
- **No pointless compression**: If the savings would be under 0.4%, the file is skipped and marked "Already Minimal" — no wasted re-compression.
- **External drive friendly**: Works great with external drives and NAS. If a file can't be moved to the Trash, you can choose a custom backup folder or overwrite directly.

PNG/SVG come out truly lossless, JPEG/WebP/HEIC are visually lossless — checked a few with the built-in compare view and couldn't spot a difference. No quality slider to mess with either.
