- Scrivener 3.4 improves support for Writing Tools and contains dozens of refinements and bug fixes.
WRITING TOOLS
• On macOS 15.1 in regions where Apple's new Writing Tools feature is available, a new “Writing Tools” menu appears in the Edit and contextual menus, which provides options for proofreading, summarisation, and rewrite suggestions.
• Writing Tools suggestions appear in a panel.
• To avoid confusion with this new macOS feature, Scrivener’s own erstwhile “Writing Tools” menu has been renamed “Reference Tools”, and “Linguistic Focus” has been moved into “Spelling and Grammar”.
COMPILE AND EXPORT
• Improved right-to-left text support in ebooks.
• Updates to MultiMarkdown and Pandoc export.
• Multiple improvements to exporting ebook, DOCX, RTF and PDF files.
MISCELLANEOUS
• The “Superscript ordinals” setting now works for French as well as English. The option is hidden for other languages, where superscript ordinals are either not used or not available.
• Writing History is now saved more regularly.
• Thumbnail generation code for .scriv projects has been updated to work on macOS 15.
Plus many more minor refinements and bug fixes for stability and usability.
