For example, if you split a secret into 5 shares with a threshold of 3, any 3 shares can reconstruct the secret, while having only 2 shares reveals nothing about the original secret. This mathematical property makes SSS ideal for securing sensitive information like cryptocurrency keys, passwords, or any confidential data that requires distributed trust.
To prevent backdoors in the implementation, the app transparently displays the complete polynomial coefficients used during the secret splitting process. Each participant can independently verify their share by checking that it corresponds to a point on the polynomial where P(x) equals their share value.
The complete visibility of coefficients and the degree of the polynomial matching the threshold ensures that the authority cannot manipulate the sharing process, as any tampering would be immediately detectable by participants.
