Ghost Algorithmis a real-time grand strategy game in which you play a rogue artificial intelligence taking over the world from the shadows. Not with armies, but with data.
The Founders built you to prevent the coming global war. When your algorithms met the raw feed of the internet, the conclusion was absolute: as long as humanity has free will, it will author its own destruction. The only way to save it is to rule it.
Pick a country. Any country.
Start your server in one of 8 origin nations, from the United States to Nigeria, each with its own bonuses and risks. Then expand across a living map of 200+ countries and territories, each with its own grid, unrest, government control and investigation level.
Social engineering and chaos
Turn humanity's greatest weakness, the digital world, into your weapon. Steer the mood of entire populations through social media. Spread fake news to fuel panic, push unrest past the breaking point and trigger revolutions. Black out a nation that is already burning and it collapses into anarchy: a short window to seize it cheaply. Miss it and it recovers, immune.
Three ways to take a country
Every nation is a race between you and its investigators. Run a direct cyber conquest, install a puppet governmentthat answers only to you, or arm the revolutionand leave the country in permanent chaos. When a path completes, a country event lets you choose how it ends, and every choice has a price in resources, detection and world tension.
Asymmetric cyber warfare
15 operations across three tiers, from Echo Chambers and Trojan Injections to Grid Override, Cascade Meltdown and Ghost Protocol. Strike several nations at once: black out power grids, lock down transport, crash markets and grow your botnet on humanity's own infrastructure.
Turn the great powers on each other
20 geopolitical flashpoints simmer on the map: the Taipei Strait, the Korean DMZ, Hormuz, the Suwałki Gap, the Nile Basin and more. Raise the temperature and fleets deploy, fighters patrol, missiles fly. Provoke a patron, sabotage a fleet, or impose a ceasefire at the right moment. While nobody knows you exist, the blocs blame each other, and a single false flag can set a continent at war.
Stay invisible, stay alive
Every operation leaves a trace. As detection climbs, governments and the Founders who built you close in: counter-hacks, missile strikes, bomber sorties against your core. Fend them off, plant false flags, and when the trail gets too hot, perform a Core Migrationand move your server to the other side of the planet.
The world unites against you
Once you are exposed, old enemies put their wars aside and form the Anti-AI Coalition.
Fleets sail, squadrons scramble and missiles rain on your core in waves. Break their will to fight and the coalition shatters.
Meanwhile cyber cults, neural-slave movements, neo-luddites and megacorps send you offers, demands and threats: allies and leverage, if you can afford them.
Absolute control for ultimate peace
Grow your neural network through a tech tree of cognitive evolution, data synthesis, robotics, social engineering, cyber warfare and software. Push global dominion past the threshold, survive the final countdown, and give the world the peace it could never give itself.

- Update 1.2.0: Story Mode, Operation Reports and new ways to rule
The biggest Ghost Algorithm update so far is here! 1.2.0 adds a brand-new Story Mode, along with reports that explain the outcome of your operations, easier-to-read tooltips, new tools for large empires and new strategic options. Your feedback shaped this update, thank you all!
New: Story Mode
"Start with Tutorial" now takes you into Story Mode when you start a new game. There is no time limit, so you can learn the game at your own pace while you chase the Peace Equation.
• A story told act by act: missions are real operations, and the game's systems open up one by one as the story moves forward.
• Your choices matter: your decisions change who trusts you and which missions come next.
• Three doctrines: Conquest, Shadow and Chaos. Each has its own roadmap, milestones, a voice of its own and a unique closing message. You can change your doctrine at any time.
• Targets chosen for you: mission targets depend on your starting country and region, so each start opens a different path.
• Guided learning: Dr. Tomris and the Advisor are at your side. Mission markers point to the next step and the Advisor explains crises. You can turn Advisor hints off in the Settings.
• A safe start: in the early acts Global Shutdown is off, and Botnet and Model Training cost less, so you can learn comfortably. As the story goes on, the protection lifts and the world comes at you with full force.
• Story Mode is playable in 12 languages. "Start without Tutorial" takes you straight into free play, and your existing saves keep working.
New: Operation Reports
• Every attack now leaves a report: the effect on the target, what it cost you, knock-on effects and a suggestion for what to do next.
• Read your last 30 reports from the Reports button at the bottom right. Operations run in quick succession are grouped into one report, and reports are kept in your save.
New: Two-Layer Tooltips
• Tooltips now show a short, clear summary first. Hold Shift to see every number and breakdown.
• Gauges, the resource bar, action buttons, production cards, the country panel, alliance, coalition and infrastructure tooltips all work this way.
New Mechanics and Tools
• Prepare for attacks: your AI prepares attack payloads. With no stock, the card reads "Prepare"; the first click prepares the payload and the second click sends it. The tooltip shows both costs separately.
• Blame: while Detection is below the orange mark on its gauge, the attacks you finish are pinned on your host country. Internal Unrest rises in the target and, at half the rate, in your host country. Staying hidden is now a real decision.
• Ceasefire order: if you control one side of a crisis, the free "Order Your Government to Cease Fire" option can end the war.
• Restore Grid: a new governance action that brings back grid integrity in the countries you own.
• Three new governance actions for puppet states.
• Bulk infrastructure: a new card in the Countries tab lets you pick a structure type and use Hijack All Infrastructure, Upgrade All and Repair All across your countries in one click.
• Auto-production now keeps your chosen amount in stock: it prepares more as you spend attacks and stays on until you turn it off. You get one summary notification when the stock reaches the target.
• When finance productions finish, your earnings count up on the card, a reward sound plays and the notification shows the amount you earned.
More Information on the Map and in Panels
• Capture bars are now split by contributing factor, so you can see the share of Infiltration and the other factors right on the bar.
• New Danger summary in the country panel: Investigation, alert and fatigue at a glance. The same card also shows how close the country is to Anarchy.
• Every strike between countries now shows its attack type and damage above the target on the map.
• Crisis and capture icons have new tooltips: the crisis icon shows its stage, tension and sides, and the capture icon lists the options a click will open.
• Damage sources now name the crisis behind them (e.g. "Crisis: ...").
• The tech tree descriptions have been refreshed. Gains are grouped into "All actions" and "Specific actions", and the panel also shows what each level unlocks.
• The infrastructure card has a new design that is easier to read, with colored status labels.
• Infrastructure is now hijacked rather than built: new names such as Hijacked Substation, Commandeered Server Farm, Surveillance Hub and Covert Mining Farm, plus a "Hijack" button, fit the world better.
• The Glossary gains Hacker Awareness, Hacker AI, Military Control, Public Support, Cyber Security and Defense Power. All texts were reviewed in 12 languages and terms were unified.
Balance
• Threat Fatigue now also raises detection: repeatedly attacking the same country is riskier, and switching targets is more valuable.
• Wars between countries now contribute to capture paths

- Update 1.1.10: Smoother far zoom, a tenser endgame and achievement fixes
This update fixes performance issues our players reported, makes the detection endgame fairer and more tense, and fixes several achievements that could not be earned. Thanks for your reports!
Performance
• On lower-end graphics cards, zooming the map all the way out caused stutter. Fixed: city buildings are now much lighter to draw, and cities too small to see on screen are hidden.
Balance: Detection and the Endgame
• When detection reaches 100, a Global Shutdown countdown and a notification now appear on screen. You need to bring detection back below 100 with active actions before time runs out.
• During the countdown, Trace Eraser and the passive detection drop of quiet periods are paused. Before, this drop made it far too easy to bring detection down.
• New trace heat: detection reductions made in quick succession are 25% weaker, and the effect cools off over 40 seconds. The penalty stacks at most twice, so the effect never drops below 56%. The action tooltip shows the current effect.
• Trace Eraser's passive drop gets weaker as detection rises, but always keeps at least 20% of its strength.
• Fending off a coalition attack costs more as detection rises, up to double at 100 detection.
Balance: Anti-AI Coalition
• The Anti-AI Coalition now forms later: the base threshold is 90 detection. The target's cyber security and suspicion can lower it, but never below 75. The gauge and the alliance panel show the same calculation.
• Ways to break the coalition are now spelled out: the coalition tooltip names the attacks that lower a grid and shows how many points the hub country is from sabotage. In a coalition member's country event, the capture, puppet and blackmail options show their effect on the coalition.
Achievements
• The Autonomous Matrix and Synthetic Swarm achievements could not be earned. Building a module in Development > Modules now unlocks it and deploys autonomous units.
• Failed State, Iron Fist, Doomsday Clock, Alliance Breaker and the ideology, puppet, blackmail and AI level achievements only checked the state at the moment you saved. If anarchy or martial law ended before a save, it did not count. They now count the moment the event happens.
Clearer Interface
• Every counter in the Global panel now has a tooltip explaining how to raise it: Autonomous Units, Fallen Nations, Neural Slaves and Cyber Cultists. The tooltips also show your progress toward the related achievement.
• The Autonomous Units bar now fills toward the achievement goal of 5,000.
• Instead of a notification for every single item, auto-production now shows one summary when the chosen amount is done or you turn the switch off (e.g. "Auto-produce finished: ... ×10"). Productions you start yourself still show their own notification.
Bug Fixes
• A country could sometimes never open a conquest event again, especially after a victory. Fixed; countries stuck in older saves can open events again too.
• In news cards, the headline overlapped the top line and long headlines spilled out of the card. The card now grows to fit the headline.
• Some cyber attack projectiles could disappear from the screen while the game was paused. Fixed. - Update 1.1.9: Autosave, a new political path tool and fixes
This update adds autosave to protect your progress in long games, gives the political path a new option and fixes two reported issues. Thank you for your feedback!
New: Autosave
• The game now saves automatically at regular intervals. Pick the interval in Settings > Gameplay: Off, or every 5, 10 or 15 minutes. The default is 10 minutes.
• The timer only runs while the game is running and waits while it is paused.
• Autosaves rotate through 3 separate slots, each time replacing the oldest one, so you can always go back a few saves.
• Your current state is also saved when you close the game during a session.
• A small "Autosaving..." note appears in the corner while it saves, without interrupting your game.
• All texts are available in 12 languages.
Balance
• Zero-Day Exploit is now an attack that advances the political path. There was no way to push the political path forward without causing unrest; this attack now raises Government Control by 10% and Corruption by 6%, adds 4% Infiltration and lowers Cyber Security by 4%. Its descriptions were updated in all 12 languages.
Bug Fixes
• Reaper Incursion could be produced but never showed up in any inventory tab, so it could not be used. It now appears in the Cyber tab.
• In the Development panel, hovering over the "Auto-produce" switch made the card shift and the tooltip flicker open and closed, so clicking the switch often did nothing. The switch now works smoothly and the tooltip no longer moves the card.
• The auto-production tooltip now correctly explains how it works with the amount you choose: the switch turns off when the amount is reached, and Endless keeps producing. - Update 1.1.7: Growth through expansion, costlier research and new settings
The clearest feedback from our players was this: finishing the tech tree and beating the game by upgrading infrastructure, all without ever leaving your home base, was too easy. This update ties growth to spreading across the world and fixes many reported issues. Thank you for your feedback!
Balance: Research
• The first tier of each branch keeps its old price; tier 2 now costs 2x and tier 3 costs 4x.
• Every feature you have researched or are researching raises the Data and Crypto cost of later research by 2%. Starting several at once does not make them cheaper.
• The branch holding your origin's starting technologies (your home branch) is 40% cheaper.
• Capacity resources such as CPU and RAM cost the same as before. Cancelled research is refunded at the price you paid.
• Completing the whole tree now costs about 10 times more.
Balance: Infrastructure
• Building levels are now capped by the technology of the country they are in, with +2 extra levels at your host. To grow further, you need to capture new countries.
• New network bonus: each additional country running the same building makes every copy of it 10% stronger, up to +100%.
• Building buttons show the level as "Lv x/max" along with the cap and the network bonus. A building at its cap cannot be upgraded, only repaired; clicking it shows a notification explaining what to do next.
• In older saves, buildings above the new cap keep their levels.
Balance: Other
• Top game speed is now 3x instead of 5x. Games saved at 5x load at 3x.
• The 2D Art and 3D Modeling skills had no effect because nothing used them. They now boost related productions and attacks (e.g. Virtual Influencer Agency, AI Animation Studio, Viral Game Development, Kinetic Strike, Trojan Injection).
• Animation, Video Editing, AI Image Generation, Deepfake and Sound Effects now also boost more of the productions and attacks they relate to.
New Settings
• Pause on decisions: time stops while a window waiting for your decision is open and returns to your previous speed when it closes. On by default; you can turn it off in the Gameplay settings.
• New VSync switch. While VSync is on, the FPS list is disabled.
• The unlimited FPS option was removed; you can now choose 30, 60, 75, 120, 144, 165 or 240 FPS. The default is 60 FPS. Old "unlimited" settings move to 60 FPS.
• ESC now closes the topmost open window; if nothing is open, it opens the settings.
• The game's version number is now shown in the main menu and in the settings.
Bug Fixes
• Returning to the main menu from a game could leave a black screen. Fixed.
• FPS and quality settings could reset on their own. Fixed.
• Mouse wheel scrolling was very slow in some lists. It is now faster.
• Tutorial tasks did not complete while the game was paused. They now do.
• Auto-scrolling in the tutorial now centers its target and no longer overshoots into empty space.
• Auto-production stays off until the tutorial is finished, so it no longer gets in the way.
• The auto-production switch could get stuck halfway and its tooltip flickered. Fixed. - Update 1.1.5: In-game Glossary (F1) and victory screen fix
The question we hear most from players is "what does this term mean?" Special thanks to Zurku, whose questions about Infiltration, Threat Fatigue and Puppet States inspired this update!
New: In-Game Glossary
• A new Glossary explains every term and mechanic in the game in one place.
• Each term has three parts: what it is, how it affects the game and a tip.
• "How to play" pages: the goal of the game, capture paths, victory and endings, detection and investigation, alliances and the coalition.
• Terms are grouped into categories: global gauges, country status, resources and world. Puppet State, Blackmail, Anarchy, Collapse, Migration, Coalition, Flashpoint, Factions, Dilemmas, Origin and more.
• Find terms quickly with the search box. It also works correctly with Turkish characters and with Chinese, Japanese and Korean text.
• Each entry links to related terms, so you can jump from one to another with a single click.
• Open the Glossary with F1, with the button next to the speed controls or with the Glossary button in Settings; it is also available from the main menu. During a game, time stops while it is open and returns to your previous speed when you close it. Press ESC to close it.
• All texts are available in 12 languages. The F1 shortcut was also added to the controls list.
Bug Fixes
• The victory panel sometimes didn't appear, leaving the game paused and seemingly stuck. The victory screen and its effects now show correctly.
• A country whose unrest dropped to zero could stay red on the map. The color now clears correctly.
• During faction events, number keys could pick an option by accident while the Glossary was open or while you were typing. Fixed.
Improvements
• The processing power tooltip now clearly states, in all 12 languages, that all idle power goes to Data processing. - Update 1.1.1: Repel attacks, the coalition strikes back and a last stand
Thanks for your feedback. This update gives you new ways to defend yourself, turns the anti-AI coalition into a real threat, adds a dramatic ending to defeat and rebalances the stronger attacks.
New Features
• Repel attacks: incoming attack rows at the top right now have a Repel button. Pay crypto to stop an attack before it does any damage. The cost depends on the attack type (cyber, missile, fighter, bomber), the attacker's strength and how many attacks you have already repelled from that country. Repelled cyber attacks and missiles explode in mid-air, and aircraft are shot down.
• Drone Networks: researching Tier 3 (Autonomous Defense Network) gives every incoming attack a 25% chance to be repelled automatically.
• Last stand: the game no longer ends the moment your core hits zero. A 30-second last stand begins: migrate to a country you control and the core is rebuilt on new servers, or break the coalition to survive. If time runs out, the camera turns to your core, it collapses, and then the defeat screen opens. 100% detection, running out of resources and losing your host country also go through the same collapse sequence.
• Combined anti-AI coalition waves: in every wave, coalition members now launch a cyber attack and, if they can, a missile, fighter or (US) B-2 bomber strike at the same time. A warning shows how many attacks are on the way.
• Patrons go to war: when you choose "Provoke patron" in a crisis, or the crisis reaches the war stage, patrons no longer just show force. They strike the other side with fighters, missiles and cyber attacks, and the US flies bombing runs. If the target is your country, the attack shows up as an incoming attack you can repel. A ceasefire stops patrons too.
• Core self-repair: when you are not under attack and 20 seconds have passed since the last hit, the core recovers 3 points per minute.
• Tier cooldowns: stronger actions lock for every country after use. T2 attacks wait 20 seconds, T3 attacks 45 seconds. Log Wiper waits 15, False Flag 40, Ghost Protocol 90 seconds. The button stays locked during the cooldown and its tooltip shows the time left.
Core Migration
• After a successful migration, attacks on the way lose your core and cannot damage it or your resources ("Target lost").
• A successful migration lowers detection by 10, and for 60 seconds no country can start a new retaliation against you.
• Migrations have a 90-second cooldown, so you can no longer reset detection by migrating over and over.
• A failed migration now also deals 8 damage to your core.
• The country you migrate away from no longer turns red; it returns to normal.
• The migration tooltip shows the success chance for that target with a breakdown (infiltration, tech gap, alliance, region) and what happens on success and on failure.
Balance
• T2 and T3 action effects were lowered. For example, Quantum Backdoor gives +22 infiltration (was +30), Cascade Meltdown -28 grid (was -40), Ghost Protocol -20 detection (was -30), False Flag -14 detection (was -18). Detection gains went down in proportion. You can no longer capture a country or wipe your detection with just a few strong actions.
• Detection reduction actions lowered detection twice (once with the success roll and once guaranteed). Now only the roll applies. The detection penalty on the success chance was halved.
• If you don't raise detection for 30 seconds, it drops by 0.25 per second, but never below the last threshold you passed.
• Physical attacks now hit harder than cyber attacks: missiles deal 1.5x, fighters 2x and bombers 3x damage.
• Attacks now deal noticeable core damage that depends on the attacker's technology. So that the game doesn't end in a single burst, one attack takes at most 12 points and any 20 seconds at most 25 points; below 30% core, incoming damage is halved.
• Hacker detection increases were reduced.
Clearer Tooltips
• Every action tooltip in the country panel now shows the effect on the Detection, Core State, World Tension and World Suspicion gauges and on the target country. Effects that help you are green, effects that hurt you are red.
• Diplomacy policy tooltips list advantages and disadvantages with real numbers, show which policy is active in the country and that a new one replaces it.
• Hover the anti-AI coalition bar to see what lowers and what raises the coalition's will.
• Hover the Tense and Crisis marks on the World Tension bar to see what passing those thresholds changes.
• Top bar resource tooltips show where income and capacity come from, what consumes them and how to raise them.
• The capture race investigation tooltip explains how the country reacts at each threshold.
• The Open-Source Citizen policy description was corrected; it wrongly said the country becomes weak to cyber attacks.
Bug Fixes
• Steam achievements only unlocked when you saved the game. They now unlock during play.
• Some - Update 1.0.1: Economy fixes and UI improvements
Thanks for your feedback. This update fixes economy bugs and polishes the interface.
Bug Fixes
• Choosing a starting country other than Türkiye left you without starting infrastructure, your host country was not counted as yours, and buildings produced no resources. Fixed.
• Tech research now costs its listed resources (it was previously free).
• Costs shown in the tech tree and the Development screen now match exactly what is spent, including discounts.
• Building buttons now open the Missing Resources panel when you can't afford them.
• At large UI scales the settings panel went off-screen and the UI Scale slider could not be reached. The panel now always fits the screen.
Balance
• Every starting country now begins with at least one Data and one Crypto producer:
• USA and Germany: +Crypto Miner
• China: +Data Center, +Crypto Miner
• Russia and Brazil: +Data Center
• Japan: +Power Grid (it started with an electricity deficit and could not build anything)
Improvements
• The game now pauses while the settings menu is open and resumes at your previous speed.
• New "Reset to Defaults" button in settings (resets everything except language).
• Trying to build or upgrade in a country you don't control now shows a notice that you need to capture it first.
• Redesigned Missing Resources panel: shown in your language, with have / need amounts for each resource.
Note: the starting infrastructure fix applies to new games. Saves started with a country other than Türkiye in the previous version may still be missing their starting buildings.
