How to Play
Playing Classic Mahjong is straightforward and relaxing. The game follows the traditional Mahjong solitaire rules:
Find open pairs: Look for two identical tiles that are free – meaning no tile is on top of them, and either the left or right side of each tile is unblocked. The tiles feature the same symbols (like two matching bamboo, circle, or character tiles).
Match and remove tiles: Click or tap one tile, then its matching pair to remove them from the board. When you remove a matching pair, they disappear, and any tiles that were underneath become uncovered and available.
Clear the board: Continue pairing and removing open tiles. The goal is to clear all the tiles from the layout. Classic Mahjong uses the full set of 144 Mahjong tiles (making 72 pairs), and you win when you’ve matched and removed them all!
Use handy features if stuck: If you can’t find a move, don’t worry – you have options. You can use the Hint button to highlight a possible match. Made a mistake? Undo your last move and try a different strategy. And if you reach a point where no moves are left, simply Restart the game to shuffle the tiles and begin the same layout again. There’s no penalty for restarting or undoing, so you can relax and enjoy the game at your own pace.
Classic Mahjong has no time limits by default, so you can take your time scanning the board and planning moves. It’s all about matching tiles and clearing the board in a calm, enjoyable way. New to Mahjong solitaire? After a round or two, you’ll get the hang of it quickly!
