Mittelware is a desktop network interceptor for developers, QA engineers and anyone who works with APIs. It sits between your applications and the internet, shows you everything that passes through, and lets you block, redirect, rewrite, mock or pause any request or response with a rule you can write in under a minute.

SEE EVERYTHING YOUR APPS SEND
Turn on monitoring with one switch and watch HTTP and HTTPS requests appear live, each tagged with the application that sent it. Open any request to see its general details, headers, payload and response. JSON, XML and HTML responses are formatted for reading. Filter by All, Paused or Intercepted, search by URL, or build detailed filters on method, headers, status code, size and more.

CHANGE WHAT THE NETWORK SAYS BACK
Create rules that match traffic by application, URL, method, headers, query parameters, bodies and status codes, then:
• Block a request or response with a status code such as 403 or 502, or hold the connection open to simulate a timeout
• Modify a request's URL, method, headers, query parameters or body
• Modify a response's status, headers or body to mock an API that doesn't exist yet
• Proxy a request to a different endpoint, for example production to localhost
• Pause a request, edit it by hand, then resume or drop it
• Add a delay to test slow connections

Rules take effect on the very next matching request. No restart, and no changes to the app you're testing.

WORKS WITH THE APPS YOU ALREADY USE
Use the Applications page to reopen Chrome, Edge, Brave, VS Code, Postman, Insomnia, Slack and other Chromium and Electron apps through Mittelware, or copy a ready-made command for curl, wget and HTTPie. You can also point any client at the proxy address manually, or optionally let Mittelware set the Windows system proxy for you.

YOUR TRAFFIC STAYS YOURS
Mittelware keeps rules, settings and captured traffic on your PC. There is no account and opt-in analytics. The proxy listens only on your own computer by default.

HTTPS NOTES
To read encrypted traffic, Mittelware can install its own certificate on your PC, and only after you agree. You can choose to monitor HTTP only instead. Apps that pin their own certificates, apps that ignore the system proxy, streaming responses and very large bodies (over 32 MB) can't be inspected.

Export captured traffic as a HAR file to share or analyse elsewhere.
