Unlike a throwaway script, TextScalpel is built around a Rust engine designed for very large folders. It keeps each file's original text encoding and line endings, skips binaries and oversized files automatically, and takes a snapshot before every write, so you can roll back a whole run with one click.
What you can do
• Replace text across thousands of files in one run — plain text or regular expressions
• Rename files with the same rule pipeline (content rules and file-name rules sit side by side)
• Look before you leap: the dry run lists every matching file and line without touching the disk
• Fine-tune before applying: untick a file or a single line and it stays untouched
• Undo instantly: Snapshots ► Rollback restores every changed file to its previous state
• Reuse your work: save a pipeline as a preset and load it whenever you need it
• Keep your formatting: original encoding (UTF-8, GBK, Latin-1 …) and CRLF/LF line endings are preserved
• Stay safe: .gitignore is respected, symbolic links are skipped, a maximum file size is enforced, and a CSV report records exactly what changed
Built for developers doing large refactors and renames, writers and translators keeping terminology consistent, and anyone who has ever needed the same change in a thousand files.
The interface ships in 9 languages with light and dark themes and a native Windows 11 look. No account, no ads, no telemetry, no subscription — a single purchase, with a free 30-day trial (up to 20 files per run during the trial).
