Description

Framecraft
Windows 11 x64. Manual frame selection, editing and TIFF export work without an AI account. Optional local SeedVR2 needs a separately installed NVIDIA CUDA/Python/PyTorch runtime and multi-GB model downloads. Cloud AI needs internet access and separately purchased processing. AMD and Intel GPUs cannot run the supplied local SeedVR2 runtime.

Framecraft helps videographers turn their favorite video moments into photographs. Import compatible camera clips, find the exact frame, collect your selections, and edit and export them together. Choose the recorded LOG curve and gamut for each clip, or apply the same interpretation to all selected clips.

Adjust exposure, contrast, white balance and other photo settings in the edit/export workspace. Crop to photographic aspect ratios such as 3:2. Replace the built-in conversion with a compatible technical 3D .cube LUT. Add a separate creative-look LUT with 1–100% strength. Toggle the source conversion and creative look independently.

Export source-resolution 16-bit RGB TIFF masters. AI upscaling saves a separate image without replacing the master. Saving an 8-bit source in a 16-bit TIFF does not create extra captured color information. AI-generated detail can differ from the original scene; review results before delivery.

PLAYBACK AND SOURCE METADATA

Framecraft offers direct camera-original playback on compatible NVIDIA GPUs: hardware decoding, source-to-Rec.709 conversion, technical/custom LUTs and creative-look blending stay on the GPU through 10-bit SDR presentation. This path starts without preparing a preview video and plays with audio. Direct Sony 4K 59.94 fps H.264 10-bit 4:2:2 playback was tested on an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU; older NVIDIA cards may not support that format. Hardware support depends on the exact codec/profile and graphics driver. This is SDR playback, not HDR mastering.

Unsupported GPUs, source formats and editing recipes use the compatible cached player. Its first play prepares a reusable lossy 8-bit viewing copy, which includes CPU processing and may take time for long clips. Viewing copies are never photo-export sources. Selecting a photo returns to the indexed original frame for full-quality 16-bit TIFF export.

Choose Source cadence or supported lower rates: 23.976, 24, 29.97, 30, 48, 50, 59.94, or 60 fps. Cadence changes are independent of playback speed. Choose 1%–100% speed or 1.5×, 2×, 3×, 5×, 10×, 20× and 50× presets. Changed-speed playback is silent. Slow playback holds recorded frames; it does not generate AI intermediate frames. Fast presets above 2× prepare a reusable viewing copy; 50× playback does not mean 50× original-codec decoding.

Optional 0°–360° added motion-vector blur is a viewing approximation, not camera-shutter reconstruction or AI interpolation. It requires a compatible NVIDIA playback path and SDR/Rec.709 conversion. Unsupported hardware or formats use compatible playback with blur disabled. Cadence, speed and blur do not alter original-frame photo exports.

Import checks embedded source-color metadata and matching sidecars. Explicit supported curve/gamut pairs can preselect conversion; missing or conflicting metadata still asks for confirmation. Saved per-clip manual settings take priority, and source color can always be changed manually.

THREE OPTIONAL AI UPSCALING CHOICES

1. LOCAL SEEDVR2 — DEFAULT AI PROVIDER
Process selected stills on your own compatible NVIDIA GPU without sending them to a cloud upscaler. The optional runtime/models are a separate multi-gigabyte installation, not included in the app installer. Setup and suitable graphics drivers are required.

An 8 GB NVIDIA GPU is limited to outputs up to 8.4 megapixels, such as 1920×1080 enlarged to 3840×2160. Larger outputs require at least 16 GB GPU memory and may need more; larger-memory configurations are not yet validated. A 4K-to-8K test failed on the tested 8 GB GPU. Local SeedVR2 saves a separate 8-bit PNG while retaining the 16-bit TIFF master. There is no per-image Framecraft processing fee for local AI.

2. FRAMECRAFT CLOUD — SEEDVR2 POWERED BY FAL.AI
No powerful local GPU is required. Sign in with the same Google account on framecraftapp.com and in Framecraft 1.1.0 or later. Buy one-time packs through Stripe on our website: 10 credits for US$3, 50 credits for US$12, or 100 credits for US$20. Credits are separate from the app purchase; there is no subscription or automatic credit refill.

One credit covers one successfully processed image within the 40-megapixel output limit. Choose 2× or 4× dimensions when the resulting image fits that limit. A 4K frame enlarged 2× fits; a 4K frame enlarged 4× does not. The app shows your balance, links to Buy More Credits, and asks before spending credits and uploading selected rendered stills. Original videos are not uploaded.

Cloud SeedVR2 returns a separate 8-bit PNG; your 16-bit TIFF master stays on your computer. Confirmed processing failures release reserved credits. Requests with an uncertain provider outcome are held for review to avoid an accidental duplicate paid job.

3. YOUR OWN TOPAZ API ACCOUNT
Connect your own Topaz API token in the app. Expand the setup help for beginner-friendly directions explaining what a token is, where to get it, and how to connect it. Owning a Topaz desktop app does not guarantee included API use. API access and charges are handled separately by Topaz under your chosen plan. Framecraft shows an estimate and asks before submitting a paid job. Topaz results are saved separately and their actual returned format and bit depth are reported. Framecraft does not resell Topaz credits or promise that AI preserves 16-bit source information.

EXACT BUILT-IN LOG-TO-REC.709 SUPPORT

The following 13 exact recorded curve/gamut pairs have built-in conversions:
1. Sony S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.
2. Sony S-Log3 / S-Gamut3.Cine.
3. Canon Log 2 / Cinema Gamut — D55 transform.
4. Canon Log 3 / Cinema Gamut — D55 transform.
5. Fujifilm F-Log / F-Gamut.
6. Fujifilm F-Log2 / F-Gamut.
7. Panasonic V-Log / V-Gamut.
8. Nikon N-Log / BT.2020.
9. Blackmagic Film Gen 5 / Blackmagic Wide Gamut Gen 5.
10. ARRI LogC3 / ARRI Wide Gamut 3 — EI 800 only.
11. ARRI LogC4 / ARRI Wide Gamut 4.
12. DJI D-Log / D-Gamut.
13. Apple Log / BT.2020.

Camera brand alone does not determine the correct conversion. Review each clip's recorded curve and gamut; ambiguous metadata requires manual confirmation. Built-ins target SDR Rec.709, not HLG or PQ output.

Fujifilm F-Log2 C/F-Gamut C, RED Log3G10/REDWideGamutRGB and Leica L-Log/BT.2020 have no shipping built-in conversions in this release. Legacy Sony S-Log/S-Log2, Canon Log 1, Canon Log 2/3 with other gamuts, DJI D-Log M, unknown LOG combinations and other HDR/wide-gamut profiles need an appropriate user-supplied source-to-Rec.709 LUT. V-Log L is not a separately validated support claim. A recognized profile name is not a promise of built-in conversion. Unsupported or bypassed color remains explicitly unconverted; AI processing requires a suitable Rec.709 interpretation/conversion.

COMPATIBILITY, ACCOUNTS AND PRIVACY

Import compatible decoded video, including representative H.264, HEVC and ProRes sources at different resolutions, bit depths and chroma formats. Codec/profile support and GPU decoding depend on the file, runtime and hardware. Some processing can use the CPU. Framecraft does not promise universal camera RAW import or an entirely GPU-only pipeline. Optional Windows Blackmagic RAW (.braw) import requires a separately installed compatible Blackmagic RAW runtime; the vendor runtime is not bundled. RAW development uses the CPU, with prepared viewing copies for playback. Original-frame photographs are redeveloped at full resolution into 16-bit RGB TIFF. RAW optical-flow blur is unavailable. RED R3D, Canon CRM, Sony RAW/X-OCN, ARRIRAW, ProRes RAW and CinemaDNG sequence development are not currently supported.

Framecraft website and cloud accounts use Google sign-in only, for customers and administrators. There is no Framecraft password to create or reset, and Framecraft does not collect or store your Google password. Google/Firebase handles authentication; Framecraft retains the account identity and purchase/credit records needed to provide the service. Local frame selection and TIFF export do not require a cloud purchase.

After confirmation, cloud processing sends the selected rendered still—not the original video—to the chosen service. A customer-owned Topaz API token is stored securely for the current Windows user, separate from Google sign-in. Local SeedVR2 does not send selected images to fal.ai or Topaz. Stills are selected manually; there is no automatic best-frame selection.
