カメラで撮影した風景や、画像ファイル中の文字を認識し、テキスト化する文字認識ツールです。ネット接続一切ありません。認識された文字はコピー&ペーストで他のアプリに持っていくことができます。シンプルなアプリですが、日本語でも市販OCR製品に匹敵する高精度な文字認識が可能です。現バージョンは、日本語、英語、フランス語、ドイツ語、ロシア語、中国語、韓国語に対応しています。
視覚障害者や識字障害者で音声出力が必要な方は、別アプリのGrab 'n' Readがお薦めです。
Camera-based Optical Character Recognition (OCR) utility that can recognize text lines in the captured/loaded images. There is no network connection at all (*1). The current supported languages are English, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, while the user interface messages are limited to English and Japanese so far (volunteers are welcome).
*1: The Windows environment ensures it since the Internet Capability is turned off in the app development.
Another application called Grab 'n' Read is recommended for those who are visually-impaired or suffering from dyslexia, and need voice output.
