Why are we doing this?
Owning a renewable energy installation is a long-term commitment — one that only pays off if you keep it running. Falling export compensation rates make that commitment harder to justify every year.
There's a system in the renewable energy industry called Unbundled Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) — credits that recognize the export of clean electricity and can be traded for profit. But individual homeowners are left out of that market: their export volumes are simply too small to justify the administrative and transaction costs involved. SuPia is our way of giving owners something in its place — a direct, tangible reward for the same clean energy contribution that the EAC market overlooks.

How carbon neutrality works, with renewable energy like yours
Every kilowatt-hour your installation exports to the grid replaces a kilowatt-hour that would otherwise come from fossil fuels — coal, gas, or oil. That displacement is the basis of carbon neutrality: it's not about removing carbon from the air, but about not putting more of it there in the first place. When thousands of homes do this simultaneously, the grid itself gets cleaner, megawatt by megawatt. Your rooftop panel or backyard turbine isn't a side project — it's a working part of the grid's decarbonization.
