Playbook is two things at once: a full audiobook player, and a text-to-speech studio that reads your documents aloud in a natural AI voice.
Import the audiobooks you own, or connect your own Audiobookshelf server, and play them with chapters, bookmarks, a sleep timer and speed control. Then bring a PDF, an EPUB, a web article, a photo of a printed page, or text you paste yourself - and Playbook reads it aloud in a voice you choose, highlighting every word as it speaks so you can read along.
One library, one player, whether you brought the audio or made it.

ABOUT YOUR PRIVACY
Converting text to speech sends that text to our conversion service, which returns the audio. There is no account, the audio is deleted from the server within 24 hours, and nothing is used to train anything. Read-along for audiobooks you already own is transcribed entirely on your iPhone. Sensitive books can be hidden behind Face ID.
FREE AND PREMIUM
Free includes the full audiobook player, the built-in open libraries, up to 3 imported audiobooks, and a one-time 1,000-character trial of text to speech.
Premium adds 350,000 characters of text to speech every calendar month, every voice, read-along highlighting, the full-screen reading view, Wi-Fi transfer from your computer, unlimited imports, Audiobookshelf servers and Face ID hiding.
Premium is $1.99/month or $19.99/year. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel any time in your App Store settings.

WI-FI TRANSFER
Send books straight from your computer. Open a page in your desktop browser, enter the pairing code shown on your phone, and drag files into your library - the files go straight from your computer to your phone.
Everything you converted lands in the same library, next to the audiobooks you brought yourself, and plays in the same player.
