Description
The game board of Othello is an 8x8 grid, and the pieces come in two colors, black and white. Players take turns placing their pieces on empty squares, with the requirement that a straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) must exist between the newly placed piece and another existing piece of the player's color, sandwiching one or more of the opponent's pieces. The sandwiched opponent's pieces are then flipped to the player's color. If a player cannot make a legal move, they must pass their turn until a valid move becomes available or the board becomes filled.
With its straightforward rules and intricate tactics, Othello appeals to players of all ages. It offers a thoughtful and strategic gaming experience, where players need to consider the potential consequences of each move in order to seize more board space.
In addition to the traditional two-player mode, Othello also provides an option to play against AI opponents. The AI difficulty is divided into three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
