The Game Basics: Backgammon is played on a board with 24 narrow triangles, called points, arranged in four quadrants. Each player starts with 15 checkers, and the goal is to move them from the home board to the inner board and then bear them off. The roll of two dice determines your checker movements, blending skill and chance.
