Building Blocks 1-8 by Akshara
The Building Blocks app from Akshara Foundation is a FREE Math learning app that lets children practice math concepts learnt at school, as a set of fun math games. It is designed to work on the most basic-level smartphones, ONLINE. Mapped to NCF2023, it is currently available in 9 languages and offers a total of 400+ intuitive free math games.
Most school children receive less than 2 hours of math instruction weekly, and many lack a supportive home learning environment. This app offers math practice and learning for grades 1-8.
This Mathematics learning app is intuitive, interactive and helps child reinforce the concept learnt at school.

•Has more than 400+ interactive activities
•Includes a Practice Math Mode for concept reinforcement and a Math Challenge Mode (grades 1-5) for assessing learning levels
•There are no in-app purchases, upsells or advertisements
•Works on the most basic-level smartphones (internet is necessary)
•All the games are tested on smartphones with 1GB RAM and also on Android-based Tablets
•Has a progress card for parents to track child’s learning progress
Contents of the App include:
Grade 1-5:
1.Number Sense-Number recognition for kids, Number Tracing, Sequence, learn math
2.Counting-Forward, backward, find missing numbers, before and after number, Place Value, Fractions-for 1-3digit numbers
3.Comparison-Greater than, Lesser than, Equal, Ascending order, Descending order,
4.Number formation-for 1-3digit numbers
5.Number Operations–Addition & Subtraction games, Multiplication games, Division games
6.Learn Measurements–Spatial relationships - far-near, narrow-wide, small-big, thin-thick, tall- short, heavy-light
7.Length-measure non-standard units and with standard units - in centimetre (cm) and metre (m)
8.Weight-measure with non-standard units, standard unit - in gram(g), Kilogram(kg)
9.Volume-Capacity - non-standard units, standard unit - millilitre (ml), litre(l)
10.Calendar-Identify parts of the calendar - date, day, year, week, month
11.Clock-Identify parts of the clock, Read the time, Showing time
12.Elapsed Time-Sequence events of the day
13.Shapes-2D and 3D- Shapes, Reflection, Rotation, Symmetry, Area, Perimeter, Circle – radius, diameter
Grade 6-8:
1.Number System:
•Even and Odd numbers, Prime & composite numbers, Factors and Multiples
•Subtraction and Addition all types of fractions – proper and improper
•Fraction on a number line
•Introduction to Cuisenaire rods, Addition & Subtraction of fractions
•Multiplication & Division of all types of fractions – proper and improper
•Introduction to positive & negative integers, Addition of integers with like signs
•Addition of decimals, Multiplication & Division of decimal number with whole number, overlap method, comparison method, Division of whole number to fraction, Fraction division by whole numbers
•Understanding of Ratio, understanding of proportion,
2.Algebra:
•Finding value of the variable using Balance
•Addition & Subtraction of the algebraic expressions
•Simplification of Algebraic expressions
•Solving Equations
•Multiplication and Division of algebraic expression
•Factorisation of equations
3.Geometry:
•Angles and properties
•Volume, Perimeter and Area for a given regular shape
•Construction of a circle
•Symmetry & mirror image
