◼ MILLENNIAL GAME ⛩: Go, known as weiqi in China and baduk in Korea, is the oldest game in the world. It originated in China 4000 years ago and its rules have not changed since then. The objective of the game, whose approximate translation is game of surround, is to get a greater amount of territory than the opponent. To control an area, you must surround it with stones. The player who controls the most territory at the end will win the game.
Go was introduced to Japan in the 8th century and became the game of the Imperial Court. Beginning in the 17th century, the Japanese government financed the professional activity of GO and created GO schools, whose growing rivalry between them constituted the basis of Japan's hegemony in this art. This hegemony of Japan has been maintained until the 80s of the twentieth century and made Go known worldwide with the Japanese term since Go was introduced into Western culture through Japan. That is why most of the terms used are from Japanese and are used mostly in the literature on this subject (Aji, Atari, Dame, Gote, Sente, Hane, etc ...).
