❓ Why does the app use a VPN?
Tesla’s browser blocks connections to local IP addresses (private networks like those used by phone hotspots).
To bypass this limitation without relying on external servers, the app uses Android’s VPN service to assign a public IP to your phone.
👉 No traffic is redirected, monitored, or intercepted.
The VPN is local, secure, and temporary – it’s only used to let your Tesla connect to Android Auto through the browser.
