Great Expectations
In the mist-shrouded marshlands of Kent, young Pip grows up under the care of his disagreeable sister and her kind-hearted husband, the blacksmith Joe Gargery. His humble existence takes an unexpected turn when he encounters an escaped convict named Abel Magwitch while visiting the graves of his family members. Pip's act of kindness—bringing food and a file to the desperate fugitive—sets in motion a chain of events that will shape his destiny.

But Pip's life truly transforms when he is summoned to the eerie Satis House, home to the eccentric and half-mad Miss Havisham. The once-beautiful Miss Havisham, jilted at the altar years ago, now lives in perpetual mourning, her wedding dress rotting on her decaying body. Pip becomes entangled in her web of bitterness and obsession. Living with Miss Havisham is her adopted daughter, the captivating and enigmatic Estella. Miss Havisham raises Estella to torment men with her beauty, and Pip, despite his initial caution, falls deeply in love with her.

As Pip grapples with his feelings for Estella, he becomes increasingly ashamed of his humble origins. His aspirations soar—he dreams of becoming a gentleman, believing that this transformation will win Estella's heart. However, fate takes an unexpected turn. Instead of the genteel life he envisions, Pip becomes an apprentice to Joe, the very blacksmith who raised him.

Enter the enigmatic lawyer Mr. Jaggers, who reveals that an anonymous benefactor has provided funds for Pip's education in London. Pip assumes it's Miss Havisham, who neither confirms nor denies his assumption. In the bustling city, Pip learns the ways of the upper class under the tutelage of Matthew Pocket and his son Herbert. Alongside his education, Pip navigates the complexities of social hierarchy, unrequited love, and the moral consequences of his actions.
