Description
SAMA VEDA It is an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text, and part of the scriptures of Hinduism One of the four Vedas, it is a liturgical text which consists of 1,549 verses. All but 75 verses have been taken from the Rigveda.
Sama Veda is the third of the four Vedas, the ancient core Hindu scriptures. The Samaveda, or Veda of Holy Songs, third in the usual order of enumeration of the three Vedas, ranks next in sanctity and liturgical importance to the Rigveda or Veda of Recited praise.
The Sanskrit term veda as a common noun means "knowledge", but can also be used to refer to fields of study unrelated to liturgy or ritual, in agenda-veda "medical science", sasya-veda "science of agriculture" or sarpa-veda "science of snakes". Ayurveda means "with bad knowledge, ignorant".
The Sama Veda also reflects the rich linguistic and philosophical heritage of ancient India, containing knowledge on a wide range of subjects beyond rituals, such as agriculture (sasya-veda), medicine (ayurveda), and other specialized sciences (agenda-veda, sarpa-veda). By studying the Sama Veda, one gains not only spiritual insight but also an understanding of ancient Indian science, culture, and ethics.
