Baby Krishna's image reflects innocence in its purest form. We often refer to him as Makhan Chor, meaning the one who steals butter. But, the butter here is used as a metaphor to explain how Krishna steals people's heart and rules them. Are you wondering how these are inter-related? Here's the answer - the butter is white and devoid of impurities. It's soft, and it quickly melts. The butter here symbolises the human heart that must be pure without traces of greed, pride, ego, jealousy and lust. Only a person whose heart is soft and pure as butter, can experience blissfulness. Hence, we must keep ourselves away from these intrinsic human tendencies to attain salvation.
Interestingly, Krishna loves to play the flute and hence he is called Muralidhar, meaning the one who holds the Murali. An image of Shri Krishna is incomplete without the musical instrument in his hand. Devotion is best expressed through songs, so sing and show your Bhakti to your lord.
