Esta aplicación de 134 páginas forma parte de una serie de aplicaciones en lenguas indígenas peruanas, que hasta el momento incluye Matsés e Iskonawa. Ilustra la extraordinariamente alta diversidad de animales que se encuentra en la Amazonía occidental junto con el sofisticado conocimiento ecológico tradicional del pueblo Kukama, utilizando ilustraciones de 493 especies de animales dibujadas por el artista Matsés Guillermo Nëcca Pëmen Mënquë, cada una acompañada de un clip de audio del nombre pronunciado por un hablante nativo de la lengua Kukama. La aplicación contiene imágenes de casi todas las especies animales que tienen nombres en el idioma Kukama, incluidos mamíferos, aves, reptiles, anfibios, peces, insectos, ciempiés, arañas, crustáceos, moluscos, gusanos y otros invertebrados. This interactive educational application features drawings of the local fauna of the Amazon rainforest of Peru, with the names of the animals in the Kukama language and in local Spanish, accompanied by audio clips in the Kukama language that are played upon tapping the image of the animal. The animal species are taxonomically organized according to division, order, and family to which they belong. The main objectives are to encourage the revitalization of the Kukama language and to promote the intergenerational transmission of traditional ecological knowledge, and can also serve to learn the scientific classification of the Amazonian fauna.
This 134-page app forms part of a series of applications in indigenous Peruvian languages, that so far includes Matses and Iskonawa. It illustrates the incredibly high animal diversity found in the western Amazon along with the sophisticated traditional ecological knowledge of the Kukama people with illustrations of 493 species of animals drawn by Matses artist Guillermo Nëcca Pëmen Mënquë, each accompanied with an audio file of the name pronounced by a native speaker of Kukama. The application contains pictures of almost all the animal species that have names in the Kukama language, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects, centipedes, spiders, crustaceans, mollusks, worms, and other invertebrates. More than 200 animal families are represented in 77 orders. The Kukama names were compiled by Dr. David W. Fleck in consultation with the Kukama elders using published dictionaries, field guides, photographs, and audio recordings of animal calls.
