Esta app está orientada a servir de instrumentos para fortalecer y promover procesos de revitalización lingüística que surjan con las nuevas generaciones.
La lengua Omagua (ISO: omg) pertenece a la familia Tupí-Guaraní y es hablada por el pueblo del mismo nombre en el departamento de Loreto. Tradicionalmente ha sido conocida también como Omagua Yeté, Ariana, Pariana, Anapia, Macanipa, Yhuata, Umaua, Cambeba, Campeba y Omaguino, aunque hoy los propios hablantes prefieren llamarla Omagua. Actualmente se considera una lengua en peligro de extinción. No tiene aún un alfabeto oficial normalizado y no existen escuelas de educación intercultural bilingüe registradas al 2013.
Los resultados de los censos nacionales 2017 indican que por el idioma o lengua materna con el que aprendió a hablar en su niñez han sido 3 personas que han manifestado que hablan la lengua Omagua que corresponde al 0,00006% del total de lenguas originarias a nivel nacional. El pueblo Omagua vive principalmente en el departamento de Loreto, cerca de la confluencia de los ríos Marañón y Ucayali. Si bien el último Censo de Comunidades Nativas y Campesinas (2017) no identificó comunidades de este pueblo, se conoce que un grupo de ciudadanos Omagua vive actualmente en comunidades del pueblo Kukama Kukamiria y mestizas.
Los pueblos cuya lengua pertenece a la familia lingüística Tupí-Guaraní, como el omagua, iniciaron una serie de migraciones desde el Amazonas Central en Brasil entre los siglos IX y XVI. Se presume que llegaron a las zonas que hoy ocupan en territorio peruano 200 o 300 años antes de que llegaran los españoles. Al comienzo se asentaron en zonas inundables del cauce de la cuenca baja del río Ucayali, desde donde se expandieron hacia otras planicies de ríos inundables. Algunos arqueólogos señalan que los Omaguas y los Kukama Kukamiria se separaron en el siglo XIV y que, en la época en que llegaron los españoles, se encontraban en pleno proceso de expansión e inmigración (Jiménez de la Espada 1965, Lathrap 1970). En la década de 1960, Ribeiro y Wise (1978) señalaron que la población Omagua vivía en comunidades junto con población mestiza y en comunidades del pueblo Kukama Kukamiria, con el que comparten una tradición histórica y cultural.
De acuerdo al INEI (2007), los Omaguas constituyen uno de los nueve pueblos indígenas a los que no se les ha identificado comunidades propias, debido a que su población vive en comunidades con otros pueblos o a que sus comunidades son de difícil acceso. No obstante, de acuerdo con el INEI, por lo menos 50 personas han manifestado ser originarias de este pueblo.
