THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE CLARITY
VizReport processes Secchi disk depth data from the Copernicus Marine Service's GlobColour constellation -- a global, gap-free, satellite-derived measure of water transparency updated daily. We enhance the raw data with coastal dilation to extend coverage to nearshore dive sites, then convert Secchi depth into practical dive visibility estimates. SST, chlorophyll, and true color data come directly from NASA and NOAA satellites (MODIS, VIIRS, AVHRR, PACE, and GHRSST).
