Get My Screen Time uses Android's AccessibilityService API to monitor app usage on your child's device.
This allows the app to:
1. Detect when your child switches between apps
2. Track the duration of time spent on each app
3. Identify restricted apps and block them when screen time limits are reached
4. Display a persistent notification indicating that monitoring is active
The AccessibilityService is activated only after explicit two-step consent:
- User must enable notifications (required for transparency)
- User must explicitly enable the AccessibilityService in Android settings
- A comprehensive disclosure screen explains what monitoring will occur and why
This app requests the following permissions and explains why:
- AccessibilityService: Detects app switches and tracks app usage. This is the core functionality that enables parental monitoring. User can decline this settings during onboarding.
- Notification Access: Required to display the mandatory persistent monitoring notification. This can be disable anytime from notifications settings
- Internet Access: Required to sync data with the parent dashboard
This app is designed exclusively for parents and guardians to monitor the device usage of their own children.
Use of this app to monitor devices without explicit parental consent is strictly prohibited and may violate local laws.
