What Are Heightmaps?
Heightmaps store elevation data used in 3D graphics, game development, and procedural design. The app supports both grayscale and color heightmaps:
Grayscale heightmaps use brightness (from black to white) to represent elevation, where black indicates the lowest terrain and white the highest.
Color heightmaps use a gradient (blue to white), where blue represents low elevation and white the peaks.
Create and Customize Terrain Easily
With intuitive sliders and seed values, you can generate realistic terrain using fractal noise, bump mapping, and other procedural techniques. Choose your map type, customize the output size, and preview the result in 3D.
3D Terrain Preview
Visualize your generated 2D map as a 3D terrain model with support for zoom, lighting toggle, and field of view adjustments. Requires a device with OpenGL ES 3.0 support for full 3D rendering.
Advanced Control, Simple Interface
Heightmap Maker offers advanced noise control and configuration options through a clean, minimal user interface. Save and share your creations in high-quality PNG format.
Performance Notice
Generating high-resolution maps can be resource-intensive, especially on lower-end devices. For best performance, use lower output sizes if your device experiences slowdowns or crashes.
