Gearfriend
GearSpanCalc is a specialized technical tool for mechanical engineers,
machinists, and gear specialists. It offers two powerful modules designed
to assist in both gear measurement conversion and machine setup for gear
cutting or grinding.

⚙️ Module 1: Overpin ↔ Overteeth Span Conversion
Convert between overpin diameter and overteeth span measurements for external spur and helical gears,
using values specified in technical drawings. This is especially helpful when only one type of
instrument (span gauge or pin gauge) is available.

Supports both external helical and spur gears

Accurate conversions based on number of teeth and pin diameter

Ideal for inspection, reverse engineering, or on-the-fly verification

⚙️ Module 2: Change Gear Train Selector
Easily calculate compound gear train combinations
(𝐴/𝐵)×(𝐶/𝐷)
(A/B)×(C/D) for two-stage gear train (such as hobbing or grinding machines).
Given a desired ratio (from machine constants or setup sheet),
the app finds multiple valid gear combinations—even when some
standard gears are unavailable.

Helps when change gears listed in manuals are missing or worn
