Hedwig Eats – A Food Calculator for Children with PDE (Pyridoxine-Dependent Epilepsy)

Feeding a child with Pyridoxine-Dependent Epilepsy (PDE) is anything but simple. Every gram of food must be calculated based on its protein and lysine content. For parents already under pressure, this can become a daily source of stress.

Hedwig Eats is a tool made to help.

The app was developed for a child close to me who was diagnosed with PDE. It helps you quickly calculate how much of a specific food can be given – based on the food’s lysine value and the child’s individual needs, which can be adjusted.

🍼 What the app does:

Enter food weight in grams

Choose a food type (preset or custom)

See how many “lysine exchanges” the meal equals

Use the exchange calculator to convert between grams and exchanges

Set how much lysine counts as one exchange in the Lysine Settings

Choose whether to log the entered food to keep track of daily lysine intake

No login, no tracking, no ads – fully offline
