Our Mission
To create India's largest multimodal cultural dataset. We aim to capture the "living, breathing essence" of India—from grand festivals and intricate art forms to the subtleties of daily routines and social etiquette. This data will be used to train the next generation of culturally aware AI models and to preserve India’s heritage for the future.
Key Features
Multimodal Capture: Seamlessly record high-quality photos, videos, and audio to document diverse domains including Religion, Food, Arts, Livelihoods, History, and Daily Life.
Rich Metadata: Add detailed captions—via text or voice notes—in your local language. Transform simple images into rich cultural knowledge by explaining the local name, context, and history.
Offline-First Design: Built for the field. Capture data in remote locations without internet connectivity and sync automatically when you are back online.
Smart Geotagging: Automatically maps cultural artifacts and events to their specific Taluk and Village for precise archival.
Workflow Flexibility: Switch between "Assigned Tasks" for targeted research or "Quick Capture" for spontaneous discoveries.
Who is this for?
This application is restricted to authorized data collectors and research partners of the IndicCulture project. A valid login credential provided by the project administration is required to access the app’s features.
Research & Ethics
Developed by IIT Madras, Smriti adheres to strict ethical guidelines approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee (IEC). The app is designed to ensure respectful documentation with informed consent mechanisms built into the workflow.
