Beskrivelse
You point it at a server you already have - a NAS, a VPS, a Nextcloud - and say which folders belong together. That is a pair. Synclet does the rest, and tells you what it did.
PROTOCOLS
- SFTP, with a password or an SSH key. The server's host key is pinned the first time you connect, and a changed key stops the run until you say otherwise.
- WebDAV: Nextcloud, ownCloud or any other WebDAV server. A plain http address works but is flagged as unencrypted.
Other protocols are planned. They are not in this version.
WHAT A PAIR CAN DO
- Upload only, download only, or two-way sync.
- Two-way sync keeps its own state for each pair. The first two-way run copies both ways and deletes nothing.
- When a file changed on both sides, both copies are kept by default. You can instead pick the newest, the largest, the phone's version or the remote's.
- Filters decide what is included.
- A file changed in the last 30 seconds is skipped until the next run, and transfers are written to a temporary file first, so a run that is cut off does not leave half a file behind.
DELETIONS ARE OFF UNLESS YOU TURN THEM ON
Mirroring deletions is optional and off by default. When it is on, some safeguards stay on and cannot be switched off:
- The first run never deletes anything. It lists what it would have deleted.
- If a run would delete more than a set share of the files (25% by default), it stops and asks you first.
- Deletions are shown by name.
ONE REMOTE, SEVERAL ADDRESSES
The same server is often reachable at different addresses: one at home, another from outside. A remote can hold several address rules, and each run uses the first that fits:
- The server answers within 2 seconds (the default - needs no permission)
- Any Wi-Fi, an unmetered network, mobile data, Ethernet, an active VPN, or always
If no rule matches, the run waits for the next chance instead of failing.
Synclet does not ask for the location permission and never reads where you are.
TAILSCALE
A remote can ask Synclet to start Tailscale before a run. This relies on an interface Tailscale provides for other apps, which is not a supported API and may change. Tailscale must already be installed, signed in and allowed to create its VPN connection, which has to be done by hand once. Android runs one VPN at a time, so starting Tailscale turns off another one. It is optional and off by default.
SCHEDULING, HONESTLY
Runs are scheduled through Android's own job scheduler, so "about every hour" means about. The shortest interval is 15 minutes, and Android may delay a run to save battery. You can require an unmetered network, charging, or a battery that is not low.

- Run now, dry run (shows what would happen and changes nothing) and cancel
- A file-by-file log of every run
- Notifications
- Two home-screen widgets: one lists all your pairs with a button to sync them all, the other shows one pair with a sync-now button
PRIVACY
There is no account and no server of ours. Your files go only to the servers you set up, and passwords and keys are stored encrypted on the phone. Synclet contains no advertising and no analytics. The only thing that can leave the phone besides your files is a bug report or message you choose to write and send yourself.
