Kuvaus

Hogmanay: Scottish New Year's
After the Protestant Reformation of the 1500s, Presbyterian and Puritan church leaders attempted to abolish many of the old Christmas customs that were so popular in the British Isles. As a result, the New Year's Day festival of Hogmanay became the primary winter holiday celebrated by the people of Scotland. Hogmanay has both Christian and Pagan overtones, and Edinburgh's annual Hogmanay Festival has become the largest New Year's Eve party in Europe, attracting many foreign visitors and tourists. This exclusive app explores the rich history, traditions, customs, celebrations, and superstitions of Hogmanay.
